According to one of the versions put forward by curious people, the word "sleepy" can be a modified Old Slavonic word for "food". After all, not so far from us are the times when the plant, now called “despair”, was actively used in the nutrition of people and domestic animals.

In the spring, when the autumn supplies in the cellars and storerooms were coming to an end, people were well helped out by running away. With its nosy and tenacious roots, it penetrated the well-fertilized soils of fields and meadows. People harvested its juicy stems and leaves, from which they cooked green soups, adding nettle, sorrel, green onions. It was stewed and even fermented for future use, as is usually the case for stewed and fermented white cabbage.

The story of the revered Orthodox saint, Seraphim of Sarov (07.19.1754 - 01.02.1833) is interesting. Born into a wealthy merchant family that foreshadowed a well-fed, prosperous life, he had to live a completely different life. His life led him to a monastery, and his penchant for solitude made him a hermit. Living in the forest, he earned his own food. History has preserved many interesting moments of his life for posterity. One of them is the fact that, living in seclusion, for three and a half years, he fed on deer, harvesting a dried plant for the winter. This did not stop him from living for almost 79 years.

The omnipresence of dream

The plant "runny" can be found in forests and on forest edges, in meadows and meadows, along village fences and in not very well-groomed gardens. It grows in open, lighted areas and in the shade of trees.
