Hebe is a genus of evergreen plants that are naturally found in the southern hemisphere of our planet. Actually, the very name of this plant should be associated with the name of the goddess of youth Hebe, who was revered by the Greeks.

The following types of this plant are most common: hebe beautiful, hebe lacquered and hebe subalpine. Gebe is beautifully grown on the Black Sea coast, this plant is quite tall and has large leaves, in central Russia this plant will not be able to endure the winter. Hebe varnished has a very attractive shiny foliage, but hebe subalpine has leaves painted in light green tones.

The genus hebe belongs to a family called plantains, however, in some sources, the plant is referred to as the norichnikovye family.

Among the species of this plant, there are also dwarf shrubs. For example, the epacris-shaped chebe reaches ten centimeters in height, the thick-leaved chebe - fifteen centimeters, the buhanana chebe - thirty centimeters, the diosmolistic chebe - fifty centimeters, and the whitened chebe reaches sixty centimeters. At the same time, among the species of this plant, there are also trees, the height of which is about seven meters.

Care and cultivation of hebe

Hebe has a special love for the West, but on especially hot days, the plant will need to darken from especially intense sunlight, which can lead to the fact that the hebe gets burned. In the period from October to February, a dormant period should be provided for the plant. However, in all weather conditions, the plant will need bright light and moderate temperatures. In winter, the temperature regime should be about twenty to twenty-two degrees, but in winter it will be necessary to maintain the temperature within a radius of six to eight centimeters. However, under the condition of excessive heat, the plant can lose not only its leaves, but also the buds.

With regard to air humidity, spraying the hebe should be carried out in the summer when the temperature is particularly hot. Sometimes it is recommended to move the plant to the balcony or to the garden, in such conditions the plant will thrive.

This plant also loves moisture very much, so in the summer it will be necessary to provide quite abundant watering. With the onset of the autumn season, it will be necessary to reduce watering, as for the winter period, watering should be carried out only after the substrate has dried. However, at the same time, stagnation of water at the roots of the plant should not be allowed; for this, drainage should also be introduced.

As for the choice of soil, it should be light and loose. The optimal substrate is a mixture of turf, leaf, peat, and sand. In addition, it is sometimes considered necessary to add a little birch coal, as well as fine expanded clay.

If in the spring you are replanting a plant, then you will need to create the following mixture: one part of sod land and sand, as well as three parts of leafy land. Such a substrate is also permissible: one part of leafy earth and sand, as well as two parts of clay soil. Young plants should be transplanted every year, but mature plants should be transplanted every two years.

As for feeding the plant, this will require a liquid fertilizer intended for decorative flowering plants. From April to September, this fertilizer should be used every two weeks. However, before using the fertilizer, you should make sure that there are no calcium salts in its composition.

Reproduction of this plant can take place both by means of seeds and by means of cuttings. In addition, it is also important to pinch the plant, which will stimulate its further favorable development.
