Description of the medicinal properties of Siberian spruce
Siberian spruce is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while for therapeutic purposes it is recommended to use young tops of leafy branches, as well as immature seed cones, buds and resinous sap, which will appear in places of damage to the tree. The buds should be harvested in early spring: they are cut at the very base and then dried in the shade. Cones are recommended to be picked unripe in August-September.
The needles of this plant contain a large amount of flavonoids, ascorbic acid, resins, tannins, phytoncides and minerals. Anthocyanins were found in the green cones of Siberian spruce, and lignan compounds are released from the wood, while the bark contains tannins.
The needles are endowed with diuretic, diaphoretic, anti-inflammatory, choleretic, analgesic and antiscorbutic effects. Also, needles can regulate metabolism and improve blood circulation, and also needles are endowed with bactericidal effects.
Needle infusion is recommended for rheumatism. A decoction of cones, buds and young branches should be used for inflammatory processes of the respiratory system and for scurvy. An ointment is made on the basis of the resin, which is used in the fight against furunculosis. Spruce feet are used for radiculitis baths. For abscesses, abrasions and ulcers, a special mixture should be used, for the preparation of which it is necessary to mix resin, wax, honey and sunflower oil in equal proportions.
In the fight against furunculosis, the following ointment is used: such an ointment is prepared from an equal amount of yellow wax, lard and resin. In chronic bronchitis, inhalation of wax and resin vapors is carried out. To prevent scurvy, as well as to increase the body's resistance to various unfavorable environmental conditions, a vitamin drink should be prepared based on Siberian spruce. Such a drink should also be drunk in the winter period of time: at this time, the needles contain much more ascorbic acid than in the summer period.
An infusion prepared on the basis of ate kidneys is considered a very effective remedy for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the respiratory system: including catarrh, tonsillitis, rhinitis and bronchial asthma. It is noteworthy that the combined preparation based on the needles of spruce, pine and fir is endowed with a sedative effect and has the ability to increase efficiency.
As for traditional medicine, here the needles of Siberian spruce are used to treat wounds and burns that do not heal for a long time, and tree sap is used to treat diarrhea, while wood ash can be used as an antidote. It should be noted that turpentine is obtained from the sap of Siberian spruce in much larger quantities than from the sap of pine.
To prepare the infusion, you will need to take the crushed cones and pour them with boiled water, then boil for half an hour and insist for another fifteen minutes. This infusion is used as inhalation and as a gargle for laryngitis, pharyngitis, sore throat, chronic tonsillitis, sinusitis and catarrh of the upper respiratory tract.
