There are so many plants with brightly colored flowers growing near the reservoirs that I would have admired the richness of herbs all day if they had not waited for vegetable beds in the garden, and annoying insect pests that do not give the gardener a break

Placun grass

On the shores of reservoirs, you can find a tall plant, sometimes reaching 2 meters in height. Large growth does not prevent the plant from being very impressionable and shedding tears, looking at how a person sometimes mercilessly treats natural creatures.

The plant also has another name - Willow Derbennik, which immediately gives an idea of beautiful decorative leaves, decorated with large denticles along the edge. It is the leaves that are capable of shedding tears, releasing excess moisture absorbed by the roots in the form of teardrops. You look at a weeping plant, and at the very eyes, tears appear, either from the bursting of the soul of happiness, or from the fleetingness of being.

At the top of the stem, in the axils of smaller leaves, simple and cute flowers are born, forming a panicle inflorescence together with the leaves. It is not a sin to settle such a plant on the shore of a reservoir in your own garden, in order to sometimes cry with him for company.

Common scullcap

Another moisture lover growing from 10 to 50 cm.

In the axils of its opposite leaves, lipsy blue flowers are born, adorning the plant all summer.

The common healer was actively used by folk healers, but today it has given way to the Baikal Shlemnik, from whose roots a healing tincture is prepared (see the article "Baikal Shlemnik"). But sometimes the leaves of the Common Skull are used to bring the nervous system in order.

Forget-me-not marsh

Five delicate petals of the color of a cloudless sky peep modestly out of the grass, without pretending to be special. However, the gaze is drawn to miniature flowers, collected in small inflorescences.

It seems that the blue summer sky has fallen to the ground, scattering small 5-petal flowers-stars over the green field of grasses. Maybe because the heavens are connected in consciousness with the Creator of life on the planet, with his love for man and care for him, this simple plant is so attractive to people.

He has neither carved decorative leaves, nor lush bright inflorescences, but it was the Forget-me-nots that were given by lovers and beloved to each other in all ages, believing that only love gives life to this beautiful world, making it even more elegant and sweeter.

The height of the bushes of the plant varies from 10 to 70 cm, sometimes unexpectedly appearing in the garden. But the hand does not rise to interrupt the life of an unpretentious creation of nature.

Highlander serpentine and Highlander amphibian

The curved thick rhizome of the Highlander serpentine, which chooses for itself moist places in glades or damp meadows, resembles the winding outlines of a snake lurking in the thickets of grass, which served as the name of the plant. And not at all what some might think when they first encounter such an ominous name.

Although to some people the rhizome resembles the belly of a crayfish, and therefore they call the plant "Cancer neck".

The rhizome shows the world a leafy peduncle, on the top of which there is an inflorescence-cob of small pink flowers, tightly pressed against each other. Inflorescences attract bees, generously sharing nectar with them.

And the Amphibian Highlander can be found not only near the reservoir, but also spread its beautiful oval-elongated leaves right on the water surface.

River Gravilat and Marsh Sabelnik

Two plants, outwardly similar to each other, choosing wet places for their life, often located along the banks of rivers. They have similar leaves and, at a cursory glance, flowers.

Marsh Sabelnik differs from River Gravilata in its curved rhizome, as if a saber was lost in the grass since the civil war. Moreover, with "lazy" stems, located in a reclining space, while the stems of the River Gravilata rush to the heavens to a height of 75 cm.
