Flowering plants on the roadside

All kinds of flowering plants can be found on the side of a dirt village road, intricately winding between rickety wattle fences and strong high fences. Here you will find unpretentious savages desperately conquering a place under the sun, and ornamental plants that escaped from the care of the summer resident and rejoice in freedom

The enchanting and alluring word "road" appeared in the Slavic lexicon in ancient times, when a person won a place to live from the plant world. Inquisitive scientists at the heart of the word "road" see words such as "tree", "tear", "dor" ("cleared place"), indicating the main meaning that "road" is a place that allows a person can freely move around the planet, without arming himself with a machete, axes or saws to confront the plant world. But, on the sides of the roads, the flora continues to triumph, demonstrating its strength, vitality and beauty.

While the road winds through the forest, dense thickets of powerful pines, Siberian cedar pine, shaggy spreading firs, coexisting with thin-bore aspen, red mountain ash, white-trunk birches, periodically give way to huge glades formed by felling and fires. During the warm season, the glades change color several times, allowing different plants to show their beauty to the world. In early spring, the lilac color is given to the glades by the miniature "lilies" of the Siberian Kandyk, a low-growing bulbous plant.

Near Kandyk, the tender bells of Medunitsa turn blue, the "golden keys" of the Primrose of spring turn yellow. One or two weeks pass and the glades light up with numerous lights of the Bathing Lady, which we call it “Ogonyki” or “Fry”.

They will be followed by Chamomile, Ivan-Chai, Yarrow, Tansy and many others, which not only decorate the planet, but also accumulate in themselves many useful and healing substances for a person who is inquisitive and loves nature. These glades are a real natural storehouse for traditional healers who keep the knowledge of their ancestors on how to maintain the human body in health for many years.

Closer to human habitation on the side of the road, the perennial healing plant Common chicory will delight with its sky-blue flowers, whose life lasts only one day. The delightful unpretentiousness of Common Chicory allows its slightly bluish stems to grow up to a meter in height on dry roadside soils. But, more often, the plant does not strive upward, spending its strength on abundant and prolonged unearthly flowering, as well as accumulating substances in the roots and leaves that can normalize the disturbed metabolism in the human body, regulate the blood sugar content.

Some ornamental plants like to "run away" from a man-made flower garden to the roadside, where they breathe more freely. Among such lovers, you can find Malva and a tall Stock Rose, giving the roadside the variety and brightness of their funnel-shaped large flowers. Multicolored Lupins help other roadside plants by enriching the soil with nitrogen compounds. Feels great on the side of Aquilegia or Vodosbor. Lilies of the valley, growing as a friendly family under the old Birch, became my "fugitives". The tightness forced part of the family members through gaps in the picket fence to get over to the slope of the village dirt road. But on the sidelines their insidious enemy awaits - the Field Bindweed, whose twisting stem loves to hug its neighbors, making it difficult for them to live on free land.

But not only Russian roadsides surprise with natural wonders. Here is such a wild-growing miracle I met on the side of the road, though not dirt, but asphalt, in Thailand, on the picturesque island of Phuket:

On the same island, a thin-stemmed Papaya tree has grown by itself on the side of the road, which has managed not only to please passers-by with its flowering, but even acquire valuable fruits that taste like a melon.
