In order to obtain dense and beautiful hyacinth inflorescences, it is necessary to take into account a number of factors that affect the success of cultivation. These include: the correct choice of planting material, illumination of the planting site, complex pre-planting soil filling, timeliness of watering, and others
Three stages of the annual cycle of plant development
1. From April to June, the plant is in the open field. During this period, there is an accumulation of nutrients in the bulb and their consumption. The number of leaves emerging from the soil in spring, the number of inflorescences and flowers in these inflorescences depends on the weight of the bulb and the amount of scales on it. The accumulation of nutrients occurs from May to mid-June. The rest of this period, hyacinth uses prepared pantries.
2. From July to August, the dug out bulbs of the plant, in which the root system and the aboveground part have served their life, are stored in rooms with a temperature of 25 degrees, which allows you to preserve the planting material in the best way.
3. From September to March, the bulbs are in the soil. Planted in September in the soil, the bulbs are in danger of dying if very severe frosts manage to freeze the soil to a depth of 25 centimeters. The bulbs that survived the winter tests delight the gardener with April shoots.
Selection of planting bulbs
The condition of the bottom of the bulb and storage scales determine the lifespan of the hyacinth. Young bulbs weighing 60-80 grams have a small and round bottom. In the future, the bulbs gain weight, become larger, but also acquire signs of degeneration.
The bottom is overgrown with a nest of daughter bulbs, and the decorativeness of the plant is significantly reduced, showing the world smaller inflorescences with fewer flowers. Therefore, it is recommended to periodically renew the collection plantations, at least once every five years.
To make the hyacinth happy with its decorative effect, healthy bulbs are chosen for planting without visible mechanical damage with a diameter of at least 5 centimeters. Bulbs aged 5-7 years are best suited for decorative planting. Such bulbs have a high specific gravity with a small rounded bottom.
Choosing a landing site
Hyacinths are photophilous, and therefore, for their better development and growth, their habitat should be well lit. It should not be exposed to spring flooding with water, have a well-drained soil structure.
The roots of hyacinths penetrate the soil quite deeply (up to 70 cm). Therefore, deep tillage is encouraged. Sandy loam, well fertilized with organic and mineral fertilizers, are most suitable for the plant. The more humus in the soil, the more successfully the plants will develop. The acidity of the soil should be neutral or slightly alkaline.
Pre-planting soil filling
The deep penetration of plant roots into the soil determines the complex pre-planting soil filling with organic and mineral fertilizers, since their surface application does not have time to provide timely and high-quality nutrition to the roots.
Doses of applied fertilizers depend on the quality of the original soil. It is always useful to add wood ash at the rate of 200-250 grams per square meter.
Preplanting the soil with fertilizers does not exclude liquid fertilizing during the active growing season of the plant. Nitrogen fertilizers are an important part of such dressings.
The role of moisture in the life of hyacinth
The most crucial moment in hyacinth care is the time when the flowers are cut. The bed with the bulbs and withering leaves remaining in the ground is leveled as much as possible so that conditions for stagnant water are not created. If a large amount of precipitation falls during this period, it is necessary to arrange a drainage of water from the garden.
If the weather is dry, water the plant abundantly. The yellowing leaves give the command that it is time to dig up the bulbs. The bulbs dug out and dried in the shade are cleaned of lumps of earth, sorted and laid to warm. Heated hyacinths are more resistant to diseases, more viable and bloom earlier than unheated ones.

Forcing Bulb Flowers: Tulips, Hyacinths
On the eve of March 8, bulbous flowers such as tulips, hyacinths, crocuses, in elegant holiday pots, appear on sale in markets, flower pavilions and flower boutiques. How are they grown if there are still 2-3 months before flowering in natural conditions, and even the first shoots are not yet on the flower beds?
Tulips, Daffodils, Hyacinths After Distillation
Many novice flower growers successfully master the forcing of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths in winter and by the 8th of March. But they don't know what to do with the bulbs after that. Let's fill this gap so that precious planting material does not go to waste. After all, once tulips were worth their weight in gold. Now, of course, they do not cost so much, but this did not make them less beautiful and desirable in the garden
Protecting Hyacinths From Pests
In addition to bacteria, viruses and parasitic microscopic fungi, the physiological characteristics of some plants can threaten the life of hyacinth. They love to feast on hyacinth and annoying pests of our flower beds
Protecting Hyacinths From Disease
Any beauty has many enemies. This bowl and the hyacinth plant did not go around. More than forty types of diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi lie in wait for the fragrant plant. Wind, rain, insects and birds all contribute to the spread of the infection. Therefore, hyacinth hopes for human help in the struggle for its existence
Reproduction Of Hyacinths
Hyacinths can be propagated by seed. However, the duration of such reproduction will not inspire every summer resident, taking 6-8 years of life. Therefore, seeds, as a rule, are propagated by hyacinths by breeders engaged in breeding new varieties of plants. Ordinary summer residents take different paths
