There are many different recommendations for storing food and things. One of the more unusual tips is to keep some food and household items upside down. When will this be useful?
Not all items we use in our daily life can be stored in the same way. Some of them require certain storage conditions, for example, upside down or in a horizontal position. Next, there are a few items and products that are more useful to turn upside down.
1. Opened paint cans
Often, paint remains in the cans after painting. Many do not throw it away, because it may be needed if something needs to be touched up or freshened up the color. It is advisable to store cans with paint leftovers upside down. This will extend the shelf life of the paint. The can is covered with plastic wrap, a tight lid and placed upside down in a dry room with a stable low temperature.
2. Natural nut oil
Everyone uses a variety of vegetable oils for cooking. The storage of any natural oil - sunflower, almond, peanut, is almost the same. But natural nut oil has one feature - an oil layer accumulates on top. Therefore, it is recommended to put the jars of these oils upside down.
This storage method allows the oil to be properly distributed in the jar. You don't even need to stir it with a spoon. The oil mixes naturally to a homogeneous consistency.
3. Pens, markers and felt-tip pens
Most people are accustomed to storing ballpoint pens, markers, and felt-tip pens upright with the nib pointing up. It turns out that this storage is wrong. These office supplies should be installed with the tip down - this reduces the risk of drying out.
4. Wine bottles
Among the drinks that require storage upside down are wine bottles. It is recommended to store them horizontally, but best of all - upside down. The horizontal position of the bottle allows you to keep the cork moist. The stopper reliably closes the bottle, preventing air from entering the wine, as well as leakage of the drink from the bottle.
5. Storing peaches
Fast and easily damaged fruits such as peaches are recommended to be stored with the bottom up. If stored improperly, there is a great risk that they will roll and wrinkle. It is generally not advisable to store peaches for a long time - they are not predisposed for this. They deteriorate quickly, even if they don't fall or get damaged.
6. Storing pineapples
Not everyone knows how to keep pineapple sweet and fresh. Cut off the top of the fruit with the leaves and place it upside down on a plate. Thus, the pineapple juice is correctly redistributed, and does not accumulate at the bottom of the fruit.
7. Shampoos and hair conditioners
It is recommended to store hair care products upside down. So their contents are properly distributed inside the bottle. Thanks to this, when washing, the hair and its roots receive all the beneficial substances found in the shampoo or conditioner. Therefore, do not forget to turn the bottles upside down after washing your hair.
8. Storage of cabbage
In winter, when the body receives few vitamins and nutrients, it is useful to eat cabbage and other vegetables. It is recommended to store white cabbage, cauliflower and red cabbage in the following way: the vegetable must be hung by the stump. Cabbage is dug up from the root, from which the earth is shaken off, the inflorescences do not need to be cut off. The heads of cabbage are suspended, and the distance between them should be about 6 cm.
9. Drying and storage of herbs
Storage of herbs while preserving their taste and useful properties: herbs are collected in small bunches (no more than 3-5 cm in diameter), suspended upward by stems in a warm and dry room.
10. Storing ketchup
Jars of ketchup or sauce are best kept upside down. This eliminates the need to wait a long time for the ketchup to drain from the bottom of the bottle.
11. Storing tomatoes
The bases of varietal tomatoes are very sensitive because the soft skin cannot support the weight of the vegetables. Therefore, it is best to store them upside down in refrigerated places. It is advisable that there is room for their long stems, which do not pluck if the tomatoes need to be stored for a long time. When the stalks are removed, the thin skin of the vegetables bursts, and they quickly deteriorate.
