Protection of tomatoes from late blight

In August, special attention should be paid to tomatoes, since it is during this period that tomatoes are susceptible to late blight. This disease develops against the background of high humidity, low night temperatures, thickening of plantings.

To prevent the disease, it is necessary to remove unnecessary stepchildren from tomatoes, remove the lower leaves, small ovaries and flower brushes, and tie up the plants. It is also recommended to pinch the tops of the shoots of tomato bushes (two or three leaves of the tops are removed together with a part of the stem in order for the growth of the shoot to stop).

For the treatment of late blight, tomatoes must be sprayed in the evening.

When processing tomatoes from late blight, it is necessary to take into account the time before the consumption of fruits. Tomatoes can be harvested for ripening in advance with a recommended break from processing to eating.

For spraying tomatoes from late blight, various preparations are used, the most effective of which are:

- "Fitosporin" (2 tablespoons per ten liters of water), the treatment is carried out every ten days;

- copper-containing preparations: ("Hom", copper oxychloride, Bordeaux liquid), the treatment is carried out every 7-12 days;

- iodine solution (50 ml of iodine per ten liters of water), it is desirable to carry out the treatment every three days;

- "Zircon" (4-6 drops per liter of water);

- fresh yeast (stick for ten liters of water);

- a solution of potassium chloride (200 ml for two liters of water).

To accelerate ripening, tomatoes are not watered from the second half of August.

Fruit tree care

The fruit garden in August abounds in fruits. In order to make it easier for the fruit tree to hold the huge weight of ripening fruits, it is necessary to install strong Y-shaped supports under the branches. The supports must be monitored, corrected as necessary. When the harvest from summer varieties is harvested, then it is necessary to move the props to autumn and winter varieties.
