There is a saying “May has come - the summer resident don’t yawn”. Indeed, May is considered the most active month for gardeners and gardeners. To do everything you need to draw up a work plan. May garden work

1. We clean the bark of fruit trees with an iron brush, scrape off the exfoliated ones, burn / remove. We process the stem and the "skeleton" with iron vitriol.

2. Weed and loosen the trunks of fruit and berry plantations. This is especially true for gooseberries and currants, since the presence of foliage complicates this work. We apply fertilizers, mulch (sawdust, compost).

3. We transplant plants or plant new ones. If the planting was in the fall, we inspect the plant. When deepening the root collar, we correct the position by raising the seedling.

4. Swollen kidneys - deal with pests. Spread any bedding under the tree and shake off the branches and trunk. Sawflies, weevils, flower beetles and other pests are not yet so active, so they will not fly away. Repeat the procedure 2-3 times at intervals of 5 days.

5. After budding, you can see how your pets overwintered - we examine trees and shrubs. We collect all the dead wood, cut out the broken and damaged branches. Partially damaged - we truncate to a healthy kidney.

6. We deal with raspberries: remove dry and broken branches, tie them up. When opening the leaves, shake off the raspberry beetle on the litter.

7. We distribute the grapes over the trellis, tie them up, cut out the dead wood.

8. We comb the lawn, scatter grass seeds on the bald spots.

9. On cool days we do scab prophylaxis. Spraying with colloidal sulfur, hom, Bordeaux liquid (1% solution).

10. We are engaged in strawberry, strawberry beds: loose, process from pests. Sprinkle the exposed roots, or perform a deep transplant. We give top dressing: we spread rotted manure under the bush, cover it with soil on top or pour it with a mixture of sodium sulfate (1 tbsp / l) + manure (2 cups). This is rated for a bucket.

Tree feeding

With the beginning of budding of apple, plum, pear and other fruit trees, you need to feed. Apply nitrogenous mixtures by dry spreading. For an adult tree, the dose is as follows: nitroammofoska / ammonium nitrate 1-2 matchbox, urea 500-600 g. It is advisable to lay out the trunk circle with humus - 5 buckets.

During the flowering period, fertilizers are diluted in water, the proportions are indicated for 10 liters. Potassium sulfate (2 tbsp. L.) + Superphosphate (100 g). If there is slurry, take half a bucket of 10 liters or 1.5 liters of chicken manure. Flavoring solutions need 4 buckets per tree. If the weather is rainy, you can lay it out dry and dig in a little.

May work in the garden

1. Before sowing, you need to draw up a plan of the beds, indicating the intended crops. It is important to take into account the "predecessors", to give sunny places and warm beds to zucchini, cucumbers. In partial shade, you can sow carrots, cabbage, onions, basil, salad crops.

2. When digging, we remove weeds, add compost. If there is no rotted manure, scatter a handful of superphosphate per sq. meter, ash.

3. From 1 to 15 we sow parsley, watercress, onion sets, spring garlic, parsnips, lettuce, carrots, radishes, peas. At the same time, early potatoes, onions and feathers are planted. After the 10th, Beijing cabbage, mustard, rutabaga, summer radish, turnip, coriander are sown. Under the film, squash, cucumbers, zucchini. After the 20th - beets, root celery, bush beans. Planting potatoes must be completed by May 25. The best days are considered the interval of blooming of a birch leaf and flowering of bird cherry.

4. We are preparing a greenhouse. In mid-May (15 … 20th) we plant seedlings. To avoid death during recurrent frosts, we prepare arcs and non-woven fabric. They will come in handy for shelter during critical nights.

5. We sow cucumbers in unprotected beds from 20-25, when the soil is warmed up by 12 cm. We plant seedlings of cucumbers, pumpkins, zucchini at stable night temperatures (+ 12 … + 14). It is advisable to immediately create temporary small-sized shelters from the film.

6. In the third decade, planting of seedlings of cauliflower, medium and late varieties of white cabbage begins. The time has come for other types of cabbage: kohlrabi, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, red cabbage. We also plant low-growing ground tomatoes, sow carrots for winter storage (they are less damaged by a carrot fly).

7. We are engaged in winter garlic: loosen, when laying the 3rd leaf, pour it with urea (spoon on a bucket).

8. Transplant, sow sorrel, spinach, tarragon, rhubarb.

9. May is the favorite month for pests of cabbage, radishes, beets, carrots. They are active especially during the lilac flowering period. We carry out pollination of seedlings with tobacco dust or wood ash.
