Adorable blooming horseradish

When growing horseradish for a spicy seasoning, caring for the plant includes removing the peduncles. Thanks to this agricultural method, the root is softer. But when a gardener plants horseradish in order to admire the fragrant snow-white flowers, there is no need to worry about who the root becomes woody. In addition to beautifully blossoming petals, horseradish will delight the owners of home gardens with a surprisingly pleasant honey aroma.

Many people know how difficult it is to remove horseradish from the site. But not everyone knows that this is because when horseradish is harvested, parts of the roots remain in the ground and give new growth. But if you do not disturb the plant, it will continue to grow in a neat bush, only slightly expanding in size every year. And in height, such flowers can reach a meter and a half.

Not every flower is suitable for such a flower bed decoration. A more harmonious blooming horseradish will be combined with decorative deciduous plants or other garden crops. For example, it can be rhubarb or gourmet ornamental cabbage. Horseradish tandem with ferns and hosts will also look good. But at the same time, tall candles and large flowers of mallow will beautifully set off the wide leaves of the vegetable.

Cabbage roses

No, these are not huge chrysanthemums and giant roses have blossomed in our flower garden. Different varieties of ornamental cabbage have revealed their magnificent leaves! Whites, yellows, reds, crimson, purples, greens, pinks, blues - what shades have not been awarded to them by nature and the work of breeders. Blooming on high stems, they not only decorate personal plots, but also look beautiful in huge vases for interior decoration. And varieties of the pyramidal shape can be planted along the garden paths, like miniature Christmas trees.

It is better to place such unusual "flowers" in a sunny place. These plants are as fond of drinking as cabbage. The decorative appearance of planting begins to acquire by July, when the head of cabbage is tied. And this beauty will delight the grower until the arrival of the cold autumn.

By the way, these plants are also eaten. Their leaves taste more bitter than other, better known and familiar varieties. But you can get rid of this aftertaste if you first freeze the product before cooking and then let it thaw. Fresh ornamental cabbage will be an excellent decoration for a festive table. By the way, in order to preserve the unusual color and shape of the cabbage, it is pickled during harvesting. Also used for making salads, cabbage soup, meat is laid on them.

Tobacco is not for smoking, but for beauty

Another non-standard representative for decorating a flower garden is fragrant tobacco. It belongs to the nightshade family like tomatoes, peppers and eggplants. But unlike them, it has an abundant and bright flowering, as well as a pleasant aroma. But not all varieties exude a noticeable smell. For example, Sander's tobacco is devoid of such a zest, but it has a bright appearance thanks to its red petals.

Like ornamental cabbage, it appears in all its glory in the second half of summer and pleases with its lovely appearance until the arrival of autumn. Another feature of flowers is that they open their buds in the evening and in cloudy weather, when other flowers close their petals. In addition to flowers, tobacco has very beautiful large leaves.

Sowing of scented tobacco is carried out from March to April. And in the fall, the rhizomes are taken out of the open ground and placed in hills to grow them in winter in room conditions.
