How are blueberries different from blueberries?

Blueberries and blueberries are two incredibly healthy berries that are often confused with each other. Outwardly, these berries are really very similar, but in terms of everything else, they are very, very different. What do they have in common, and how do they differ from each other? It is possible that, having got acquainted with these wonderful berries better, someone will decide to include them in their diet on an ongoing basis

Shrub appearance

To distinguish blueberries from blueberries, you first need to carefully examine the berry bushes - blueberry bushes are always much lower than blueberry bushes, the height of which often reaches one and a half meters. And blueberries also differ from the beautiful blueberries in that their branches never grow stiff along their entire length, and the cuttings remain green for a very long time. The twigs are not the same in these crops - in blueberries they are always creeping, and in blueberries they are upright and erect. And finally, it is worth paying attention to the foliage - blueberry leaves are endowed with pointed tips and boast a pronounced ovoid shape, while blueberry leaves are equipped with blunt edges and are much more rounded.

Blueberries and blueberries also differ from each other, and these differences begin with the location of the berries on the branches. On blueberry twigs, dark berries grow singly, and on blueberry twigs, the berries are arranged in spectacular bunches. Blueberry berries are very similar in shape to miniature apples, in addition, they are all crowned with pronounced tails that look like a crown. And in blueberries, this part of the berries looks like a burnt volcano crater, equipped with a small rod in the middle. And the shape of blueberries is more unusual, elliptical. There are also differences in size - as a rule, blueberries are almost twice as small as blueberries. The names of the crops themselves indicate the differences between them - blueberries are characterized by a dark blue, almost black color, and blueberries have a bluish-blue hue, in addition, their berries are usually covered with a fairly thick coating. If you cut the berries, then the blueberries in the cut will resemble a ripe pomegranate, while the blueberries will have transparent centers with a slightly greenish tint. Having crushed blueberries while picking berries, you can immediately notice how your fingers instantly turn into a bright purple or blue tint, but blueberries have absolutely pure and completely colorless juice!

What do the berries taste like?

To understand and feel the taste of blueberries, it is recommended to try them separately from any other products. And even in this case, everyone's feelings will be completely different! However, many agree that blueberries have a strong flavor and are almost always sweeter than blueberries.

As for the taste of blueberries, it is largely due to the characteristics of its pulp, which in most cases is characterized by a watery structure. The absence of natural pigment of a rich dark blue color gives blueberries a very unusual acidity, which is extremely harmoniously combined with a light and unobtrusive sweetness. Almost everyone who has tried blueberries notes that its taste also contains notes of lingonberry and currant. By the way, the ripeness of blueberries is also easy to determine by its taste - if after eating it there is no sweetish taste in the mouth, then the berries need to ripen.
