Black mulberry (lat. Morus nigra) - a fruit tree belonging to the Mulberry family.
Description
Black mulberry is a deciduous tree, the height of which ranges from ten to thirteen meters. The length of the leaves of this plant pubescent from below is in the range from ten to twenty centimeters, and their width is in the range from six to ten centimeters.
The fruits of the black mulberry, harvested in July and August, are black or dark purple polystyrene, reaching a length of two to three centimeters. All of them boast a pleasant aroma and a rather sweet taste with a subtle, but at the same time, very pleasant sourness.
Where grows
Black mulberry came to us from the vibrant Southeast Asia - there it has been grown for the sake of edible fruits since ancient times. Gradually, it began to spread to the east and west. And most of all, this culture is now widespread in Afghanistan, Iran and in the north of India - there they constantly prepare amazing sorbets, preserves and jams from it. Black mulberry is also grown on the territory of Ukraine.
Application
These berries are eagerly consumed fresh. They make excellent jam, wonderful compotes and great jams. Fermentation of these fruits allows you to get excellent wine, and through distillation you can make excellent mulberry vodka. There are twice as many sugars in these berries than in the white variety of berries, in addition, they are very rich in all kinds of vitamins, fats, pectin and tannins, as well as organic acids (apple and citric). They also contain a dye called lithrin, which is not possible to wash off even with the most advanced means.
Such fruits are very rich in iron, which makes them irreplaceable helpers for anemia. Their ability to increase perspiration makes them an excellent antipyretic agent, in addition, they are endowed with powerful laxative, diuretic and blood-purifying properties.
Black mulberry fruits are an excellent antiseptic, and they are also recommended to be used for all kinds of respiratory ailments. For people suffering from bronchitis, they will be an excellent expectorant, and their regular use can relieve skin abscesses and acne. As for the unripe berries, they do not weaken, but strengthen. And ripe specimens are excellent thirst quenchers.
A lot of these amazing fruits and resveratrol - the most powerful natural antioxidant. This means that they can boast of a rejuvenating effect. In addition, they are able to normalize metabolism and help food to be better absorbed.
Endowed with medicinal properties and roots with bark - their scope of application is similar to that of the roots and bark of white mulberry.
In case of a cold, the juice of these fruits is combined with water in a 1: 1 ratio and regularly rinsed their throat, and in case of bronchitis, a teaspoon of crushed bark is poured with boiling water (just take one glass), after which the raw materials are insisted for four hours and filtered. Such a drug is taken three to four times a day by mouth, 50 ml.
And in case of bruises or wounds, thoroughly ground bark is combined with vegetable oil (one part of the bark needs to take five parts of oil) and, having infused the healing composition for ten days, they begin to apply it to the affected areas.
No less often, black mulberry is also used in landscape design, because these trees look very impressive. They are especially often used to form hedges.

Contraindications of black mulberry are completely identical to those of its white relative.
