Buzulnik gray (lat. Ligularia glauca) - herbaceous perennial, endowed with healing properties. Belongs to the Asteraceae family, or Astrovye. In nature, it grows mainly in Siberia, in particular the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Altai, Novosibirsk Region, etc. Typical habitats are steppes, forest meadows, forest edges, birch forests, mixed and deciduous forests.
Characteristics of culture
The gray buzulnik is represented by perennial plants with a height of no more than 1.5 m with a shortened rhizome, equipped with cord-shaped lobes. The stems, in turn, are erect, furrowed, naked, have a green color with a bluish bloom, although below, where dead foliage is observed, they have a purple tint.
The foliage located at the base is formed in large numbers, it is obtuse at the tips, notched, sits on winged petioles. The average foliage is glabrous, dull at the tips, whole-edged, stem-embracing, can have an ovoid, rounded or broadly ovate shape, no more than 6 cm in width. The foliage located at the apex is small, lanceolate, less often ovate-lanceolate.
The flowers are tubular and ligulate, collected in baskets that form a racemose inflorescence. As a rule, one brush contains about 20 baskets, less often less than six. The flower wrapper is cup-shaped, endowed with linear sharp leaves. The color of the reed flowers of the blue-gray buzulnik is rich yellow, the color of the disc flowers is yellow.
The fruits are represented by naked achenes, equipped with a tuft, which consists of bristly short hairs of white color. The flowering culture is observed in the middle of summer. So, in Siberia it comes in the first decade of July. The culture in question is prone to self-seeding, therefore, barely faded inflorescences should be removed, otherwise numerous new shoots cannot be avoided.
Application
Of course, the gray buzulnik is endowed with decorative properties, because rich yellow baskets give the compositions a special zest, warmth and comfort. However, to a greater extent, culture is used in folk medicine. The entire aboveground part of plants, including flowers, is used as a medicinal raw material. They are harvested at the time of flowering, then dried in a ventilated room, and then placed in boxes or canvas bags for storage.
An infusion is prepared from the dried raw materials, which is used for disorders in the functioning of the nervous system. Also, the plant is famous for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties, so traditional healers recommend using them for skin lesions. There is experience in the use of infusion in the fight against acne, but since the chemical composition of gray-gray buzulnik has not been studied enough, it is not used in the cosmetic industry.
Cultivation of gray buzulnik
To grow a gray buzulnik on the site, it does not take much time and effort, because the culture is unpretentious. By the way, it belongs to the category of shade-loving, so it can be safely planted on a shady area. The main thing is to provide for the condition of the soil. In order for the plant to actively develop and bloom profusely, it is important to plant it in areas that have nutritious and moist soil. If you plant a crop on a site with dry and very poor soil, flowering will not please with saturation, and maybe not at all.
Caring for the blue-gray buzulnik is as simple as two or two. It must be watered regularly, and if the plant is cultivated in an open sunny area, the volume of water and the number of irrigations must be doubled, or even tripled, because without an optimal moisture regime, abundant flowering should not be expected, just like large foliage. It is also important to take care of feeding. In the spring, it is recommended to feed the culture with rotted compost or humus, as well as add superforfate and wood ash, and before and after flowering - mullein infusion.
