Arisema Amur (lat. Arisaema amurense) - a representative of the Arizem genus of the Aroid family. Belongs to the category of corms. In culture, it is found mainly in the Far East - Khabarovsk Territory, China and Mongolia. Typical habitats are deciduous and mixed forests, river banks, mountain slopes. It is a relict species.
Characteristics of culture
Amur arizema is represented by perennial herbaceous plants endowed with compressed globular tubers with a diameter of no more than 7 cm. The foliage is tripartite, petiolate, petioles occupy 3/4 of the length of the leaf sheath. As a rule, one plant bears no more than three leaves. Leaflets are oval or oblong, up to 11 cm long, wedge-shaped at the base, often serrated, pointed at the tips.
The pedicels of the species under consideration are short, smaller in size than the petioles. The flowers are green, violet-green or dark green, endowed with crimson stripes, with a lanceolate free part, truncated inside. The tube, in turn, is cylindrical, no more than 5 cm long. Flowering occurs in the third decade of April, lasts about 30-60 days, depending on climatic conditions and the quality of care.
The fruits of the Amur arizem are red conical berries. They carry four ovoid smooth seeds that remain viable for over two years. It is important to note that all parts of the plant (including tubers) are poisonous, and in contact with the skin (especially damaged areas) cause severe irritation, itching and blisters. For this reason, in no case should a plant be planted in areas where there are children.
Medical use
Amur arisema is actively used in folk medicine, as it is rich in medicinal substances, for example, saponins, alkaloids, organic acids, steroid substances, flavonoids, ascorbic acid, etc. It boasts antianemic, antirheumatic, analgesic and disinfectant properties.
Usually tubers are harvested as medicinal raw materials. They are dug out before the leaves are formed. This is one of the important conditions for the extraction of medicinal raw materials. In Mongolia, seeds, shoots and foliage of the Amur Arizem are also used to treat some ailments. They are dried in a well-ventilated area. The tubers, in turn, are either dried or preserved in alcohol.
Today the tubers of arizema Amur are recommended to be used as a medicine against diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, malignant tumors, skin cancer, abscesses and furunculosis. They are also effective in combating inflammatory skin diseases, back pain (especially in the lumbar region), bronchitis, pneumonia and colds. Often, tubers are advised if there are abscesses, purulent wounds, as well as hemorrhoids, and diseases of the bladder on the cover.
