Since Aconite Karmikhelya or Aconite Fisher is considered native not only in the East of Russia, but also in the countries of East Asia, the plant is widely known under such names as "Chinese aconite", "Chinese wolf poison" and others.
Description
Aconite Karmikhelya is a herbaceous perennial plant, the strong stem of which does not need additional support, rising to a height of one meter and twenty centimeters. The plant longevity is guaranteed by its underground tuberous roots, which accumulate nutrients for the next year of life of the aboveground parts of Aconite.
Picturesque large leaves have from three to five lobes, the edges of which are deeply cut, giving the leaves an openwork appearance. The surface of the sheet plate is colored dark green, hard to the touch, shiny. Even without flowers, the plant looks very impressive. But beauty hides a danger to human health, since all parts of the plant contain toxic substances.
In late summer and early autumn, the plant presents to the world dense paniculate inflorescences collected from large, purple-blue, helmet-shaped flowers. The beauty and power of the plant attracted gardeners, and therefore Aconit Karmikhelya is a frequent guest of garden flower beds. Some of the bred plant varieties have earned awards from the Royal Horticultural Society of Great Britain.
The poisonousness of the plant
When growing Aconite Karmikhel in your garden, you should be very careful in dealing with the plant, since the toxicity of its parts is very high. When ingesting potions prepared by a person ignorant of the plant's abilities, it may well be fatal. Indeed, very recently, hunters used the poison of a plant to lubricate their arrows.
Twenty (20) to forty (40) milliliters of Aconite Karmichel herb tincture can cause fatal poisoning. The first symptoms of poisoning (vomiting, nausea, diarrhea) appear within the first hour. And after two to six hours, if no measures are taken to save a person, death occurs due to heart paralysis or asphyxiation (suffocation).
Poisoning can occur when collecting leaves without protective gloves, since the aconitine toxin contained in the leaves easily penetrates the body through the skin, affecting first the muscles of the arm and then reaching the heart.
Usage
Despite its high toxicity, Aconite Karmikhela is popular with gardeners for its spectacular and powerful appearance, decorating the background of mixborders, or as a large specimen plant.
Traditional Chinese medicine uses the toxic substances of the plant for medicinal purposes, carefully dosing the drugs. It is better not to use self-prepared tinctures from the Aconite herb if a person does not have professional knowledge of medicine.
