Wrestler, or Dzhungarian Aconite (lat. Aconitum soongaricum) - a herbaceous flowering perennial plant of the genus Aconite (Latin Aconitum) of the Buttercup family (Latin Ranunculaceae). The plant is poisonous, used by traditional healers in the fight against a number of diseases. Scientific studies in mice confirm the ability of preparations from plant tubers to inhibit the growth of malignant tumors.
What's in your name
Both words of the Latin name of the plant are associated with the places of its growth.
The word "Aconite" is associated with the town of Akoni, not far from which the hero of myths named Hercules defeated an evil underground monster. The monster's venom, scattered across the ground during their battle, gave life to a highly poisonous plant.
This plant owes its species epithet "soongaricum" to the mountain range called "Dzhungarskiy Alatau", stretching between Kazakhstan and China. Chinese traditional medicine, based on the use of the healing properties of various herbs, very actively used mountain pantries, significantly undermining the vitality of the plant. As for Kazakhstan, on its part of the mountain range the plant has survived much more successfully, often forming real natural plantations along with such valuable medicinal plants as Safflower Leuzea, Radiola rosea, Valerian.
As is always the case with popular plants, the Dzungarian Aconite has many popular names reflecting its strength and cunning. For example, the Kyrgyz call the plant "Issyk-Kul root" and "Poisonous lead", thereby linking its insidious lethal power with a lead bullet.
Description
The most valuable part of the plant is its root system, which guarantees Aconite Dzungarian perenniality, as well as storing valuable chemicals in its cone-shaped tubers, which are very poisonous, but when used correctly and dosed, they turn into a valuable medicine for dangerous human ailments.
The powerful root system also reveals to the world a powerful erect stem, the height of which, depending on environmental conditions, varies from seventy centimeters to more than a meter mark. The surface of a strong trunk can be bare, or protected by more or less dense pubescence.
Nature skillfully cut the petiolate leaves into shares, dressing up a powerful bush in a dark green pictorial dress, behind the beauty of which there is a mortal danger to humans, since leaf tissue is also permeated with poisonous substances.
Blue-violet large flowers of the traditional Aconite form form apical racemose inflorescences. Each peduncle has a pair of narrow bracts. Five sepals, headed by the upper one in the shape of a knight's helmet, protect from the vicissitudes of the weather three pistils and numerous stamens, as well as a nectary that attracts pollinators.
The crown of the growing cycle is the achene with a dry pericarp and brownish-brown angular seeds.
Healing abilities
The healing abilities of Dzhungar Aconite are a consequence of the unique chemical composition accumulated by the plant in its leaves and root tubers. Although this composition has not yet been sufficiently studied by botanists and pharmacists, nevertheless, a person knows something about its main representatives.
And the main ones are several alkaloids, the leading role among which is played by aconitine. The amount of alkaloids in plant parts depends on a number of factors: the environment, the composition of the soil, as well as the time of collection of medicinal raw materials. Their greatest concentration in the tubers of the plant is observed in late autumn or early spring, and in the stems and leaves - in the spring, when Aconite has not yet entered the flowering phase.
Fresh herb is able to divert pain from rheumatism, sciatica and various neuralgias. When using it, it should be remembered that the alkaloid "aconitine" is one of the strongest poisons hidden by nature in the plant kingdom, and therefore its competent dosage will save you from trouble.
The abilities of Dzungarian Aconite are many-sided: it is both anesthesia and antimicrobial effect, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and most importantly - antitumor, which is used in the later stages of cancer development.
