Alas, but modern realities seem to be hitting the head like a butt: housing and communal services are expensive, your own electric heating will cost a tidy sum. And this is where old proven ovens come to the rescue. But, in order not to throw money down the drain, the choice of firewood must be approached wisely

So, firewood can be birch, coniferous (they in turn are larch, pine, spruce), alder, oak, fruit, linden, aspen, willow. Let's talk about the advantages of each type, and, of course, let's talk about the disadvantages.

Birch firewood

Birch - suitable for any stove, be it a bath or a fireplace. They are easy to ignite, burn almost without sparks (a very useful property, especially if you like a bath and heat it almost every day), give a good heat, and still practically do not emit carbon monoxide. But birch wood has a significant disadvantage - a lot of soot and soot in the pipe and on the walls of the stove. The chimney will have to be cleaned quite often.

Coniferous firewood

As you remember, we have already said that there are such firewoods: pine, spruce, larch. Such wood burns effectively: sparks fly, crackle on the whole house and resinous aroma everywhere. It is difficult to attribute such properties to disadvantages, this has its own romance, if, of course, you remember about the safety rules. If there are conifers in the stove, watch out for sparks, they can shoot at any object and start a fire. If we talk about each subspecies, it is better to use pine logs, they are much hotter than, for example, spruce. But there is too much carbon monoxide from larch trees, so good ventilation is needed.

In general, soot and soot is formed from coniferous firewood no less than from birch firewood.

Alder firewood

Alder - they burn practically without smoke and soot, with a wonderful aroma that not only smells good, but also heals. A bathhouse on such wood for the next day will put you on your feet if you have a cold. By the way, it is on such wood that fishing lovers then smoke their prey.

One drawback is that it is very difficult to find them, and if you succeed, you are in luck. But you should be careful when buying, all these wonderful properties have only those logs that are grown in a dry place, but if the blanks were brought from a swamp area, then the tree will be smoked.

Oak firewood

Oak firewood guarantees a pleasant aroma, long and strong burning heat. It is best to use a medium-aged oak tree. If the wood is old, the air will be heavy during the fire, and if it is young, then you will not get the expected heat. But finding a middle-aged oak will be problematic, since this plant is a long-liver.

Fruit firewood

Fruit - such firewood includes all the scraps from the fruit bushes in your garden (cherries, plums, apricots, apples). Such raw materials burn with a sweet aroma, no smoke and pleasant warmth. This option is suitable as an addition to the main type of logs, because no one specifically grows fruit trees for lighting. Also, do not use rotten wood.

Linden - have a strong, persistent heat, and also a pleasant honey aroma. A bath on such trees is useful for a cold and mild colds. Minus - it flares up for a long time, but it's worth it, since such heat is stable. But finding a linden is problematic.

Aspen - do not give soot and save the pipe from the soot of other firewood. They have a significant disadvantage - they emit little heat.

Willow - burn very quickly, but they do not give soot, but burn hot. Finding them is not difficult.

In addition to the advantages of each type of firewood, it will also be useful to know their expiration date. Firewood cannot give all the useful properties if mold or rot has appeared on it. As for the scent, the scent often lasts no more than two years.
