The air in the pine forest is almost sterile thanks to the volatile secretions of the pine trees. Therefore, they are trying to build sanatoriums for patients with respiratory problems in pine forests. Not only the air is healing, but also the buds and needles of pine trees. The life span of pine trees is relatively short, 300-500 years.

If there is a reservoir with fish in your summer cottage, then in the spring they will gladly eat the pollen of male pine cones, which covers the leaves, the ground, and the surface of the reservoirs with a yellow coating. Pine seeds ripen 1.5 years after fertilization.

Siberian cedar pine

People proudly call it Siberian cedar. It is called cedar for its longevity (lives up to 850 years), beauty, heroic dimensions (height up to 45 meters). Siberian cedar pine is not inferior to real Lebanese cedars in its stately posture and thick shade. Admired by the majesty, scent of Siberian coniferous trees, the pioneers of its vast expanses named any coniferous tree cedar.

The cedar pine differs from the ordinary one in the number of needles collected in a bunch: the ordinary pine has 2 needles, and the cedar pine has 5. But they differ even more in their seeds. The seeds of the common pine are small and have wings, and the seeds of the Siberian pine are the well-known delicious brown "pine nuts".

Pine nuts are not the only virtue of Siberian cedar. Like Scots pine, cedar gives the air aroma and health. In such forests annoying mosquitoes do not pester. The moth, which loves to devour people's clothes, bypasses wardrobes made of cedar wood, and milky fungi, which turn milk into sour milk, do not favor dishes made from it. But bees really love to live in hives made of cedar wood. What a healing aroma comes from the walls of the house from pine and cedar trunks.

To all the listed benefits, the Siberian cedar pine is simply a beauty. The people say that God created the spruce forest for work, birch groves for fun, and cedar woods to pray earnestly to God. At the end of spring, the pine is especially elegant when it is decorated with crimson male cones, burning brightly against the background of dense bright green needles.

Dwarf cedar

A shrub up to 3 meters high or a tree up to 7 meters is called a dwarf pine or dwarf cedar. He lives in the Far North, where not many manage to settle down and survive in the harsh conditions of an almost eternal winter. And the elfin smog, and is the first to rise from under the snow in the spring, announcing the end of winter.

Cones with pine nuts grow on it, as well as on the Siberian cedar. True, they are smaller, but in taste and usefulness they are not inferior to cedar nuts.

Pine nuts

Since the time of Ivan the Terrible, the basis of Russian exports has been pine nuts and sable fur. In the 19th century, 200 thousand tons of pine nuts were harvested in Russia annually. Today it is more and more difficult for the cedar to produce such crops because of the barbarism of the person who became the property of gas.
