The number of people passionate about landscape design continues to grow. A special place in this art, however, as in the field of active gardening, is occupied by the cultivation of ornamental trees and shrubs. This business, of course, is laborious and requires special skills, but the result can exceed all expectations.
In landscape design, both deciduous and coniferous ornamental trees, as well as shrubs, are used. With the help of conifers, you can turn your site into a piece of a real forest, recreating a fabulous atmosphere there. It is important that some ornamental plants, many of which are conifers, do not require careful and laborious care - you just need to choose the right seedlings, as well as the time and place for planting them.
The variety of species and varieties of decorative coniferous trees allows you to transform and decorate the smallest area or garden. In addition to the well-known and familiar Christmas trees, pines and larch trees, more and more new species of coniferous ornamental trees can be seen, for example, cunningamia, sciadopitis, or various types of podocarpus. Some plants, whose homeland are warm countries, may well be cultivated in an apartment (there are specially bred dwarf forms), taking them out into the garden only for the summer.
At the same time, the ranks of "old friends", thanks to the efforts of collectors, are being replenished with new varieties. For example, dwarf trees can be a beautiful framing for a flower bed or alpine slide.
Large coniferous ornamental trees (spruce, cedar, fir, larch, etc.) are often used to limit an area or divide it into sectors, forming a hedge, as well as decorating paths. Green fences, created, for example, from spruce or larch trees, can reliably protect the site from prying eyes. However, if the dacha is located on a forest edge, landscape design experts do not recommend using coniferous ornamental trees - against the background of the forest, they can get lost, looking not quite presentable. At the same time, deciduous trees in such conditions will look much more profitable.
For small areas, dwarf varieties of ornamental conifers are perfect, for example, the Golden Spreader fir, which within 10 years can only grow up to 1 meter, and its diameter will be the same. The tree is gradually gaining more and more popularity, and its shiny golden-yellow needles can be seen in many rock gardens and alpine slides.
