July is perhaps the most lavish month for flower abundance. Weeds are no longer so annoying, cucumbers are salted and rolled up in jars, and other vegetables are not yet ready for the bins, so the summer resident can be allocated time for rest and creativity. We collect an armful of flowers, sit in the shade and begin to weave the most beautiful wreath in the world, which will decorate our house and protect it from misfortunes
Wreath - decoration and amulet
Since ancient times, people have woven flower wreaths to decorate cute girls' heads on holidays, on the day of the wedding ceremony. Dwellings were decorated with wreaths to protect their home from evil spirits, the evil eye.
Girls made wreaths of wild and forest flowers on the eve of Ivan Kupala's day. Having made a wish, the wreaths were lowered into the river at sunset. A wreath that floated freely along the river promised the fulfillment of a wish. A wreath, lingering near the shore, not caught up by the stream of water, almost immediately washed ashore and did not promise its craftswoman the fulfillment of her wish.
Modern girls do not throw wreaths into the water, entrusting their desires and their destiny to unpredictable river currents. Today they have other ways of attracting happiness. You can decorate the head with an elegant summer wreath, for example, for a weekend photo shoot, in order to display original and unique frames on your Internet page on Monday. The hand-made production of the wreath guarantees the uniqueness and charm of the displayed photograph. The fate of the girls is in their hands.
Choosing flowers for a wreath
The choice of flowers for a wreath depends on personal taste, the presence of flowering plants in the front garden or in the clearing closest to the house, at the edge of the forest.
Dandelions (traditionally in demand for weaving wreaths) have already changed their elegant yellow dresses for white light parachutes, so they will not be suitable for weaving a July wreath. But in the nearest meadow bells and cornflowers turn blue, chamomiles turn white and yellow, and nearer to the stream forget-me-nots turn blue. All these flowers are perfect for weaving a wreath. You can try to weave a wreath of Ivan-tea flowers, or by combining different flowers.
In the front garden, you just need a little tidy up the cornflower, bells, forget-me-nots, feathery carnations, calendula. We will not touch roses, peonies and delphinium. Let's leave them for more solemn occasions. But you can try to weave a lavender, godetia, cosmea among other colors. Also, for a wreath, all kinds of decorative herbs that can decorate our works of art, and even berries, are suitable.
If you have a pond with a lot of lilies and water lilies, then you can weave a mermaid wreath to decorate your long hair.
By the way, you can weave a wreath for a loved one from forget-me-nots. It is believed that such a wreath has a bewitching power.
Wreath weaving technique
The technique of weaving the wreath depends on the colors we choose for weaving. If the flowers have a long stem, then we do not need additional material to make the base of the wreath. The stems themselves will form this base.
We take a couple of flowers with the longest stems and begin to weave a wreath. We place each subsequent flower from the previous one at such a distance that the flowers lie in an even row, forming a beautiful outer side of the wreath. We put the stems on the base of the wreath, fixing the stem of the previous flower with the newly interwoven one. So flower by flower the length of our work grows. From time to time we try on the wreath so that it later fits well into the size of the head, without sticking out on the top of the head and not falling into the neck. When the desired length grows, we start the beginning of the wreath a little on the end part and fasten (wrap it up) with a strong thread. The wreath is ready for a photo shoot.
From lilies and water lilies, you can weave a wreath by weaving a regular braid, periodically weaving new flowers into it.
To weave a wreath of flowers with short stems, you need to prepare a base of wire or other herbs, on which you can fix the flowers.
