The last week of July, the turning point of the year, the heart of summer, has gone. The summer resident has a lot of trouble at this time, because, as folk wisdom says, everything that July and August does not cook up will not fry September. So the hostesses are in a hurry to cook as much as possible, add salt, brown, dry or freeze in the freezer
Watering the garden
Although torrential streams periodically pour down from the heavens accompanied by thunder and flashing lightning, the July heat quickly returns moisture to the heavens. And the plants require daily watering, otherwise they refuse to grow and prepare the harvest. Cucumbers and tomatoes are especially responsive to watering (and feeding). Cucumbers should be watered no more than twice a week, but always with warm water. In addition, cucumbers must be watered with a solution of potassium permanganate. For the formation of additional roots in a tomato, the bushes are spud after watering.
Weeding
After the rain, weeds still continue to crawl out. It is easy to pull them out of wet soil together with the roots, leaving them no chance to settle down in the beds thoroughly and with comfort.
Loosening the soil
Jets of rain, watering hose, or watering cans tend to compact loose soil. We take in hand the tool for loosening and quickly put things in order in the beds.
If all three of the above procedures are done regularly, then they do not take much time. Do not forget that in July vegetables that are actively growing after the cold of June need watering and loosening the soil: zucchini and squash, beets and carrots, cabbage and onions, and, of course, cucumbers that continue to bear fruit.
Stepping
The pinching of tomatoes continues, and it's time to pinch the tops of the bushes growing in the open field. In the lower part of the tomato bushes, remove the yellow and dry leaves. For open ground, it is important to remove branches without fruits, flowers and buds that will no longer have time to bear fruit, and you can also remove medium and large tomatoes for ripening at home, so that the plant has enough strength to grow the rest of the crop.
Fruit and berry care
July is the month of wild plant growth.
Fruit trees are actively increasing their annual growth, adding to the work of the gardener to pinch the strongest of them. Trees continue to need moderate watering, weed management, soil loosening, top dressing and pest control. Since the fruits are already growing and filled with vitamin juices on them, it is not worth using chemical agents against pests. It is better to resort to natural protectors: dandelion, celandine, wormwood, nettle, tansy, making infusions from them for spraying. Just don't spray your plants with water on cold evenings to avoid attracting powdery mildew. To support the branches bent under the weight of pouring apples, it is necessary to put reliable supports under them. We continue to remove shoots from apple, plum, cherry, raspberry, sea buckthorn …
The strawberry grows with a mustache that weakens the mother plant. If you are the owner of a good variety of strawberries and want to propagate it, root the strongest mustache, and mercilessly remove the rest. When two or three leaves appear on the rooted rosettes, they are planted on the seedling bed. After harvesting the strawberries, it is necessary to remove the fruiting peduncles, diseased and old leaves.
For the propagation of currants, honeysuckle, roses, phlox, spirits and other plants with green cuttings (this, however, should have been done in early July, but for those who have a late summer, this is still relevant), do not forget that the soil for the cuttings must be light, well processed and poor in nitrogen. That is, forget about compost and manure. You also need to take care of creating high air humidity for the cuttings, using plastic bottles for this, plastic wrap. To make the cuttings more comfortable, we arrange diffused light or shade for them with the help of non-woven material. For example, cuttings of jasmine and honeysuckle love shade, and roses, phloxes, hydrangeas, spireas prefer the sun, but protected by light-scattering material.

July Flower Wreath
July is perhaps the most lavish month for flower abundance. Weeds are no longer so annoying, cucumbers are salted and rolled up in jars, and other vegetables are not yet ready for the bins, so the summer resident can be allocated time for rest and creativity. Cabbage Chores In August
In August, the gardener continues to reap the fruits of the intense spring and summer harvest. In the beds where the mid-late varieties of cabbage ripen, the time is coming to remove them from the beds. Plants lagging behind in development must be stimulated with dressings. At the same time, one should not lose vigilance in those areas where late representatives of cruciferous plants are located - in the last month of summer, there is still a high probability of causing great damage by gluttonous parasitic pests: cabbage scoop, whitewater
Cabbage: April Chores
A lot of things need to be done in the garden for those vegetable growers who grow cabbage on their backyard plots.
