To revive the basement office space, which is difficult to access full daylight; and also, to give freshness to the air, to create an atmosphere of friendliness and hospitality, both for its visitors and for the personnel of the enterprise, you can decorate the room with living plants. But, in such conditions, not every plant wants to develop successfully and give people a good mood
The correct choice of plants for such premises is the choice of shade-tolerant plants, for which the lack of sunlight is not an obstacle to their growth and development.

Aspidistra
A feature of the plant "Aspidistra" is the absence of a stem. Wide-oval dark green glossy leaves are fixed on the creeping rhizome with the help of long petioles, forming a powerful and dense bush.
The flowers of the plant are inconspicuous, giving large berries when artificially pollinated.
The plant is very unpretentious and tenacious. It is calm about shading, but grows more intensively in good lighting.
Arrowroot
Arrowroot leaves fascinate with their unique beauty. Some arrowroot species raise and fold their leaves at night, as if plunging them into sleep, lowering and straightening them again during the day so that the leaves can be saturated with light..
In a two-colored arrowroot, the dark green top of the leaves is divided by a light stripe, on either side of which there are large velvety brown spots. Below the leaves are colored purple-red.
The most popular among lovers of indoor plants is the white-necked arrowroot.
The variety "Kerchoveana" differs from the two-colored arrowroot in the emerald-green color of the upper surface of the leaf and the blue-green underside, which has red spots. It also does not have light stripes along the central vein, which the two-colored arrowroot have.
Massangeana has a much more dramatic appearance. Its olive-green leaves are smaller in size, but the graceful pattern along the central vein, together with the silvery veins located throughout the leaf from its center to the edges, resemble the skeleton of a fish. The seamy side of the leaves is dark red in color.
Cordilina
In nature, cordilina grows up to several meters in height, but in indoor growing conditions, a pseudo palm tree grows slowly and can live a long life if it is properly looked after.
Such types of cordilina as "apical" and "shrub" can be found on sale with the name "Dracaena apical". But it is possible to distinguish "dracaena" from "cordilina" by its roots. Dracaena has yellow or orange roots, smooth and straight, without rhizomes. Cordilina has knotty and white roots, in addition, there is a fleshy creeping rhizome.
Cordilina is prized for its beautiful leaves that can be green, red-burgundy, or have spots or stripes of pink, cream, or red.
Purple, white or reddish flowers are collected in a panicle inflorescence.
Chlorophytum
The fast-growing and unpretentious chlorophytum is very widespread among indoor plants. Its linear long leaves in a beautiful "shock" descend from the pots. A lover of moisture in the summer, he expends his strength to release drooping stems with small white flowers. After flowering, bunches of miniature leaves with aerial roots form at the ends of the stems. As soon as you root these small rosettes of leaves in the soil, you have a new plant.
Tradescantia
Tradescantia is one of the most hardy and unpretentious ornamental plants grown in offices. A broken off stalk takes root in light soil within a few days at any time of the year. The rapid growth of the plant forms a full-fledged decorative appearance in a couple of months.
Tradescantia can grow both in the shade and in a well-lit place. Do not place the plant in a very dark place to avoid losing its decorative effect. The darkness steals the brightness of the leaves from Tradescantia, turning them into pale "children of the dungeon." But the excess of sunlight also harms the plant, leaving burns on its leaves.

Shrubs In The Shade

What Vegetables Can Be Grown In The Shade?
Any garden contains light and shaded areas that can change during the day. However, some areas are always filled with sunlight, while others are constantly in the shade. In addition, this shadow often falls from structures located in the garden. In this case, crops such as peppers, zucchini and tomatoes should not be planted in shaded dark areas. Almost all other vegetables, subject to certain rules, will provide the summer resident with an excellent harvest
