Tolpis bearded (lat. Tolpis) - a light-loving flowering plant from the Astrovye family.
Description
Tolpis is a bright, showy plant with a height of ten to fifty centimeters. This handsome man boasts the presence of both toothed and pinnately separate or whole leaves, which can be both basal and located in the lower parts of the stems. And the length of these leaves in some cases can reach ten centimeters.
The yellow terry inflorescences of the crowd are characterized by relatively small sizes - in most cases their diameter does not exceed five centimeters. As a rule, they look like baskets. The reed flowers in the crowd are usually white or yellow, and the tubular ones are invariably dark and rather small. And each inflorescence is surrounded by a peculiar needle-like frill - consisting of narrow and rather long bristly leaves of a bedspread! In the conditions of the middle lane, you can admire the flowering of this handsome man, starting in July and until the onset of frost. Crowd flowers look especially cool early in the morning.
The ribbed achenes of the crowd boast a rather interesting cylindrical shape and the presence of many funny crests formed by eight to ten thin bristles. In the process of maturation, these achenes gradually acquire a fairly rich dark red color.
In total, the genus crowd has from fifteen to twenty species.

Tolpis grows mainly in the Azores and Canary Islands, as well as in the Mediterranean, which is the home of this beautiful plant.
Usage
In culture, in the conditions of the middle lane, only one type of crowd is grown - this is a bearded crowd. This handsome man has excellently proved himself in rabatki, on chic Moorish lawns, and also as a plant for landscaping the southern slopes or slopes. The ability to bloom profusely makes the crowd an incredibly popular plant in ornamental floriculture.

Growing and caring
For growing crowds, sunny areas with absolutely any garden soil are ideal. Lime-rich soils are especially well suited for these purposes. At the same time, it is important to take into account that this plant does not tolerate waterlogging (moisture should always be moderate), but the crowd reacts perfectly to a short drought. But during such periods, the plant in any case needs systematic watering. And this handsome man is very cold-resistant, which also cannot but rejoice.
If the plant suddenly begins to stretch up too much, it is possible that it will need supports and tying (the stalks of the crowd in this case may not be too strong), but there is nothing complicated in their arrangement.
Crowds are usually propagated either by sowing in open ground in the spring, or by planting them in greenhouses with the onset of March-April. And the first shoots can be seen after eight to ten days. In general, the seeds of this plant are able to maintain their germination for three to four years. By the way, the crowd can easily produce self-seeding!
It is also important to know that in the middle lane the crowds, unfortunately, will not be able to overwinter.
