Motherwort small is one of the plants of the family called labiates, in Latin the name of this plant will sound like this: Leonurus deminutus V. Krecz. As for the name of the small motherwort family itself, in Latin it will be like this: Lamiaceae Lindl. (Labiatae Juss.).

Description of the motherwort small

Motherwort is a perennial or biennial herb, the height of which will fluctuate between thirty and seventy centimeters. At the base of the stems, this plant will be endowed with a reddish tint, and in color it is grayish. The rhizome of the motherwort will be woody, the leaves are bare and five-dissected, their length and width will be about four to five centimeters. The inflorescence will be rather short, it is endowed with close whorls, the broad-ended calyx can be painted in both dark green and reddish tones, and its length is about five to six millimeters. The lower two teeth are bent, the corolla is painted in pale purple tones, its length reaches eight millimeters, and the lower lip will be sparsely whitish.

The flowering of the motherwort small falls on the period from June to the month of July.

Description of the medicinal properties of motherwort small

Motherwort small is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the herb of this plant. Grass includes stems, leaves and flowers. The presence of such valuable medicinal properties should be explained by the content of small flavonoids, alkaloids, cardenolides and tannins in the composition of the aboveground part of motherwort.

It is noteworthy that in the experiment it was proved that the infusion prepared on the basis of the herb of this plant has the ability to manifest a short-term vasoconstrictor effect. Motherwort extract is endowed with anticonvulsant and sedative effects.

As for traditional medicine, here this plant is quite widespread. The infusion, prepared on the basis of flowers and leaves of motherwort, is indicated for use in dysentery, typhoid fever, diarrhea and vomiting, and is also used as an antipyretic agent, and in food poisoning it is considered a detoxifying agent.

In Tibetan medicine, the infusion and decoction, prepared on the basis of the herb of motherwort, are used for acute colitis and intoxication. As part of the same complex collections, such elements of this plant are used for gastritis, duodenal ulcer and stomach ulcer.

For angina pectoris, it is recommended to use the following very effective remedy based on motherwort small: to prepare such a drug, you will need to take two tablespoons of crushed dry herb motherwort small in half a liter of boiling water. The resulting drug mixture should be infused for about two hours, after which this mixture should be very thoroughly filtered. Take such a remedy based on motherwort small three to four times a day, one third of a glass.

For diarrhea, a very effective remedy based on motherwort should be used: to prepare such a remedy, you will need to take one tablespoon of flowers and leaves of this plant for one glass of boiling water. The resulting drug mixture should be infused for about two hours, and then this mixture is filtered very carefully. Such a remedy is taken on the basis of a small motherwort three to four times a day, one third of a glass: such a remedy turns out to be very effective, provided it is used correctly.
