The flowering of kidney tea occurs in the period from July to August. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the tropics of Southeast Asia, the Philippines, Laos, Burma, Vietnam, the islands of Sumatra and Java in Indonesia, as well as in the northeast of Australia.

Kidney tea is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while the leaves of this plant are recommended for medicinal purposes. The presence of such valuable medicinal properties is recommended to be explained by the content of the bitter glycoside orthosiphonin in the leaves of this plant, which dissolves in water and alcohol, but does not dissolve at all in chloroform. In addition, the leaves contain fatty oil, essential oil, a large amount of potassium salts, beta-sitosterol, alkaloids, tannins, as well as the following organic acids: rosemary, tartaric, citric and phenolcarboxylic acids.
In the form of an infusion, this plant is endowed with very valuable diuretic properties. In this case, the diuretic effect when taking such a healing agent will be accompanied by a rather strong excretion of uric acid and urea from the body, while diuresis will double, and an increase in chlorides will also occur.
In addition, kidney tea will have an antiseptic effect on organs with smooth muscles, and is also endowed with the ability to enhance bile secretion and increase gastric acid secretion.
Medicine in many countries uses this plant for urethritis, gout, cystitis, pyelocystitis, cholecystitis, diabetes mellitus, cholelithiasis, for acute and chronic kidney disease, which in turn will be accompanied by the formation of kidney stones, albuminuria, azotemia and edema. In addition, such a plant is used to treat pronounced phenomena of hypertension and cerebral atherosclerosis, which will be accompanied by various disorders of the liver and kidneys. It should be noted that healing agents based on renal tea will cause alkalization of urine and increased urine output: these properties will appear already on the first day of the start of taking this agent. In this case, the effect of the reception will be noticeable after about two to three days.
