The bract leaves of the bedstraw are paired, while the uppermost leaves will be single, they are very small in size, their length is about one or two millimeters, and their width will not exceed half a millimeter. The half-umbrellas of this plant will be loose, they are six to nine-flowered and there are such half-umbrellas at the very ends of branches and stems. At the same time, the semi-umbrellas will form a paniculate-spreading inflorescence. The swamp bedstraw rim is painted in white tones, it will be about three to three and a half millimeters in diameter, such a rim will be endowed with a short and wide tube and ovoid blades. The length of the fruits of the bedstraw will be one millimeter, and the width is one and a half to two millimeters, such fruits will be double, sometimes they can be endowed with one mericarp, and the other will be underdeveloped.
The flowering of the swamp bedstraw occurs in the period from July to August. Under natural conditions, this plant is found on the territory of Belarus, Ukraine, the European and Siberian Arctic, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Western and Eastern Siberia, as well as the European part of Russia, with the exception of only the Zavolzhsky, Nizhne-Volzhsky and Nizhne-Don regions. For growth, this plant prefers the shores of lakes and rivers, swampy meadows, ditch edges, crops, damp rocky slopes, low-lying swamps, forest edges, bushes, fallow fields and swampy forests.
Description of the medicinal properties of the bedstraw
The swamp bedstraw is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the roots and grass of this plant for medicinal purposes. Grass includes leaves, flowers, and stems.
