Comfrey flowers are tubular, with a diameter of up to two centimeters. In color, these flowers can be either blue, light blue, yellow and white, or purple. Flowers are collected in inflorescences. It should be noted that these flowers are not endowed with a smell, and throughout the flowering period, the color of the flowers will change. Flowering will come in the month of May and will last until July. The height of the comfrey bush will be about twenty centimeters-one meter.

Some types of comfrey

Comfrey is hard in height, even reaches more than one meter, and the flowers can be painted both in blue and pink tones. A hybrid comfrey will be about forty-five centimeters high, flowers can also be pink or blue. Caucasian comfrey in height can exceed even one meter, and under especially favorable conditions, the plant forms rather lush bushes and will grow rapidly. The flowering of this plant variety is also very abundant, and the flowers are painted in blue tones.

Medicinal comfrey in height can exceed sixty centimeters, the leaves of this plant are quite large, and the flowers are painted either in pink or dark purple. Large comfrey is endowed with yellow flowers, and the height of this plant will be about thirty centimeters. The flowers of this variety of comfrey will be painted in yellow tones, and the leaves will also be large and light green, such leaves will also have a pale border around the edge.

Description of the features of the care and cultivation of comfrey

For the cultivation of this plant, it is recommended to give preference to moist and fertile soils. It is worth noting that this plant will not develop well on heavy and acidic soils. It is for this reason that, even before planting comfrey, attention must be paid to measures that will improve the composition of the soil. For planting, you should choose either a sunny place or slightly shaded.

Moderate watering is important for the plant, which should be carried out on especially hot and dry days. In the event that this plant is grown near water bodies, it is not required to water the plant. To stimulate new shoot growth and re-flowering, you will need to prune the shoots after the end of the flowering period.

It should be noted that the comfrey does not require additional shelter for the winter period of time. Top dressing is also optional. Actually, this plant is not particularly whimsical to care for and does not require special attention.

Comfrey breeding

Reproduction of this plant occurs by means of seeds, as well as by means of rhizome pieces. It is noteworthy that comfrey can also reproduce through self-seeding. It is recommended to sow seeds in the spring or before winter directly in the open ground. In the case when reproduction occurs by means of seeds, then flowering will begin the next year.

Reproduction by division of the rhizome occurs after the end of the flowering period, which will occur at the end of the summer season. Sections of rhizomes should be planted immediately in a permanent place, while regular watering is important at first. As soon as comfrey sprouts appear, then watering should be reduced.
