Branchy broomstick is one of the plants of the family called broomrape, in Latin the name of this plant will sound as follows: Orobanche ramosa L. As for the name of the broomrape family itself, in Latin it will be like this: Orobanchaceae Vent.

Description of branchy broomrape

The branched broom is also known under the following popular names: solar root, spinning top, thistle, sucker, multicolor root, summer stem, goose stem and tovstushka. The branchy broomstick is a non-green parasitic plant whose height will fluctuate between ten and twenty-five centimeters. It is noteworthy that this plant will adhere to the roots of numerous green plants, including sunflowers, tobacco, wormwood and tomatoes. Branched broomrape stems are straight, yellowish in color, branched and thickened in the lower part. Such a stem will be endowed with a few ovate-lanceolate scales, which are reduced and simplified leaves. The flowers of this plant will be two-lipped, they gather in a spike-shaped inflorescence, and are also painted in pale purple tones. The calyx of broomrape is branched bell-shaped, it is endowed with four to five lanceolate teeth. There are only four stamens of this plant, and the pistil is endowed with a bipartite stigma. The fruit of branched broomrape is a capsule that will open with two valves. The seeds of this plant are small and have an underdeveloped embryo.

The flowering of broomrape falls on the period from June to August. In natural conditions, plants are found in the south of Belarus, in the Crimea, in all regions of the Caucasus, in Moldova and in the following parts of the European part of Russia: in the Volga region, in the North-West, in the Volga-Don and Lower Don regions. For growth, the plant prefers fields, vegetable gardens, places near roads and on fallow lands, starting from the lowland and ending with the lower mountain belt.

Description of the medicinal properties of branched broomrape

Branched broomstick is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. The concept of grass includes stems with flowers and scales.

The presence of such valuable healing properties is explained by the content of carbohydrates and a related compound mannitol, tannins, alkaloids and the flavonoid tricine in the plant. A fatty oil was found in the seeds of this plant. The plant is endowed with antispasmodic, sedative and wound healing effects.

An aqueous infusion of broomrape is recommended for the accumulation of gases in the intestines, as well as for stomach cramps. For faster wound healing, you can apply a crushed plant to sore spots. It is important to note that broomrape shoots can be eaten as a salad or asparagus.

For insomnia and poor sleep, you should prepare the following very effective remedy based on branchy broomrape: for the preparation of such a remedy, it is recommended to take one teaspoon of the herb of this plant in one glass of boiling water. The resulting mixture should be left to infuse for thirty minutes, after which it is important to strain this mixture very carefully. Take such a remedy one tablespoon three times a day before the start of a meal. It is important to remember that in order to achieve the greatest efficiency when taking such a remedy for insomnia based on broomrape, one should strictly observe all the norms of preparation, as well as all the rules for taking such a remedy.
