Wanda is one of the varieties of orchids. This plant has a dense stem, which is covered with leaves, as well as rather thick roots. Such roots can sometimes even reach more than two meters in length. Peduncles consist of about two to fifteen flowers. At the same time, about one to four peduncles can bloom. These flowers differ in that at first they are small in size and rather pale, and then after a couple of days they become more colorful, and also increase in size.

Care and cultivation of wanda

Different varieties of this plant will require separate temperatures, so it is impossible to say for sure what temperature regime is required for this plant.

However, most often on sale there are such Vandas who need daytime temperatures in a radius of twenty-two to twenty-eight degrees, and at night the thermometer should not drop below fourteen degrees.

The plant will also need quite intense sunlight during the daytime, but at night the temperature should not rise above twenty-four degrees.

The room in which the plant pot is located should be constantly ventilated. The window should also be left open at night. But in the summer, it is recommended to take the plant out into fresh air, which will help the intensive development of this plant.

Actually, these plants are distinguished by a special love of light. However, at the same time, some species are already adapted to the conditions in ordinary apartments, so their cultivation will not be difficult. However, not every window will be suitable for growing wanda.

As for the choice of a southern window for growing this plant, it is rather difficult to note that this option is the most preferable. For the autumn and winter period of time, the southern window is the optimal place for growing wanda, because the plant will not stop growing, which will lead to the fact that no diseases will arise, as well as unwanted weakening of the wanda will not occur. However, if the vanda grows on the southern window from about the end of March to the end of August, then excessively intense lighting can lead to overgrowth of the plant. In addition, constant exposure to direct sunlight can also cause burns to wanda leaves. Therefore, it is recommended to remove the plant a little further from the south window for this period of time, but it is difficult to give the only correct advice when the plant should be moved. Experts advise only to take a closer look at your own plant: as soon as red or purple dots of rather small size appear on the leaves of the wanda, this is evidence of the need to move the plant away from the southern window. However, there may be other changes in the appearance of the plant: white spots may appear or the leaf may turn yellow. All this will already be evidence of a more serious damage to the plant, which can further lead to the complete death of the wanda.

Breeding wanda

As for the reproduction of vanda, this plant can be obtained from seeds only under certain conditions, which is achievable exclusively within the laboratory.

If you are going to propagate the wanda yourself, then you should choose the method of division. Wanda is able to reproduce by means of apical cuttings and lateral shoots. You will need to trim the top of the stem to about half its length, and the stem should have several aerial roots. Then this stem is planted in the ground and left in a warm place out of the sun. The plant should be sprayed every day without watering.
