Cucumber root rot is especially powerful if the cucumbers were planted on soils on which various pumpkin crops had previously grown, as well as with a sharp drop in soil temperatures and with cold watering. Sometimes root rot is also capable of attacking seedlings - as a rule, this happens in the case of its improper planting, with its additional hilling or with excessive deepening. If you do not start the fight against this dangerous disease in time, crop losses can be very significant
A few words about the disease
On plants attacked by root rot, the leaves begin to fade gradually. It is especially common to notice such wilting when a long cloudy weather is established. The leaves of the lower tiers quickly turn yellow, and the stems at the very roots crack and also acquire a yellow color. To detect these symptoms, it is enough to slightly shake off the soil. Root necks and roots of plants attacked by the disease turn brown after some time, the ovaries die off, the main root becomes loose and turns dark brown, and its surface gradually collapses.
The causative agents of the ill-fated misfortune are parasitic fungi that are constantly in the soil. And they persist throughout the year not only in the ground, but also in the remains of plants.
The development of a dangerous ailment is largely favored by overheating of the soil in greenhouses over twenty-eight degrees, as well as a decrease in soil temperature to sixteen degrees.
How to fight
When planting seedlings in the holes, you should not fill up the stems - the usual deepening of the pot is quite enough. During the summer season, soil is not added to the stems either. Yes, and you should not huddle cucumbers. And, of course, it is not recommended to cultivate cucumbers in those areas where their relatives grew last year.
When watering cucumbers, it is important to water exclusively the soil without spraying a stream of water on the plants themselves. Watering is usually carried out in the morning (until about eleven o'clock) and with extremely warm water, the temperature of which should be in the range from twenty-four to twenty-five degrees. Also, when growing this crop, it is important to ensure that the infected parts of the plants are not covered with soil.
If the disease on the cucumbers was nevertheless discovered, then you should shake off the soil from the stalks to the very roots, and then treat the plants with a special composition, for the preparation of which a teaspoon of copper sulfate is dissolved in 0.5 liters of water (it can be easily replaced with polycarbacin or copper oxychloride) and three tablespoons of chalk (wood ash or fluff lime can be an alternative to chalk). Everything is thoroughly mixed, after which the infected parts of the stems are treated with a brush soaked in the solution. At the same time, the stems are processed from the roots and up to twelve centimeters in height.
In addition, the infected areas can be treated with chalk, ash or crushed coal and then allowed to dry thoroughly.
In order for the affected crops to begin the formation of new roots, a fresh layer of good fertile soil is poured onto them. In adult plants, the lower leaves are cut off. Then, after waiting for the cuts to dry out, the stems are laid on the ground and lightly sprinkled with new fertile soil. And when the formation of new roots begins (after one and a half or two weeks), they add a little more earth. Unfortunately, this method does not always help, however, at the initial stage of root rot development, it gives a very good effect. If the disease progresses, then the plants are dug up together with earthy lumps, and the resulting pits are filled with fertile soil.
All dead plants are always removed along with the soil and burned, and the holes are watered with one or two liters of a solution of copper sulfate (for ten liters of water - two tablespoons of the product).

Red Root Rot
Red rot, also called rhizoctonia and felt disease, is an ailment that affects beets, carrots, rutabagas, parsley, turnips and other root vegetables. The disease manifests itself mainly during harvesting, as well as at the stage of its storage. However, with its timely detection, it is possible to achieve good results in the fight against the disease
Tomato Root Rot
Root rot of tomato is especially harmful on waterlogged substrates and grounds. It manifests itself mainly in the decay of the root necks of growing crops and in their withering. Tomatoes attacked by root rot often die prematurely. This happens especially often if the plants were affected by the ill-fated disease at an early age. To avoid such a nuisance, it is important to timely identify the disease and direct all efforts to get rid of it as soon as possible
Beet Root Aphid - A Thunderstorm Of Root Crops
Beet root aphid is an ubiquitous pest that attacks quinoa and other swan plants in addition to beets. It is considered especially dangerous because in a relatively short period of time from May to October, it is capable of giving from eight to ten generations. As a rule, the number of these parasites increases markedly in July and August. The vegetation attacked by them withers and dies, which adversely affects the harvest of long-awaited root crops
Cucumber White Rot
Cucumber white rot is found almost everywhere cucumbers are grown. Gardeners especially often encounter it indoors. And this attack develops on all parts of growing crops - from the roots to the very fruits. At the same time, white rot can attack cucumbers at any stage of their development - from the moment of the appearance of tiny shoots and up to the formation of fruits. Young plants at the very beginning of summer often die as a result of damage to the stems and the root system. except
Pitious Corn Root Rot
Pitious corn root rot is found wherever corn is grown. At the same time, it affects not only corn, but also most other grain crops. Most often, this scourge can be encountered on heavy soils and in areas with high humidity. Throughout the growing season, the energy of development and growth of crops attacked by this scourge is noticeably reduced, and tiny seedlings often die from damage to the root system.
