We are accustomed to tea that we see on store shelves and in tea shops: black, green, white with various additives in the form of flavors, various spicy herbs, pieces of fruit, and so on. But tea is different. And the most useful is tea from our garden, brewed from the twigs of various trees and bushes. It is both healthy and tasty, and perfectly quenches thirst
By the way, in the hungry nineties, when there was often no money for tea, many friends, including my parents, brewed such teas. What twigs are suitable for tea and how to brew them correctly? To begin with, here are some general tea brewing guidelines that are suitable for most of the plants in our garden.
How to brew?
The preparation of this tasty (well, let's be honest, there is an exception - sea buckthorn, which tastes like an independent raw material for tea is not very good) and healthy tea does not happen quickly, although labor costs are minimal. Cut thin twigs from the plant from which you want to make tea (raspberries, cherries, sea buckthorn, currants, or you can arrange them), rinse thoroughly, put them in a kettle or a saucepan (the dishes must be opaque, since the coloring substances and tea will turn out colorless and tasteless), fill with water and boil for about fifteen minutes. Then leave to infuse for 10-12 hours. If you have a stove, you can leave it right on the edge of the stove, warm, in the morning the tea will be warm, tasty and beautiful. By the way, twigs can be prepared in summer or autumn, during the period of pruning trees and shrubs. If the tea gets cold, just heat it up, don't boil it! You can add honey if desired.
Cherry tea
Boil the prepared and washed twigs in an opaque container. You can drink the tea right away, but it will not taste as good as after a few hours. Therefore, it is advisable to let it brew. Over time, the tea will acquire a rich dark red (rather, cherry) color, and the aroma will be easily recognizable with notes of almonds. Cherry tea with honey is especially good, and a couple of drops of lemon juice will not spoil it, only the color will become less saturated. The number of branches is at your discretion, the more branches, the more saturated color and taste.
Cherry twig tea is a great helper for your kidneys, it removes sand well and relieves cystitis pain.
Plum tea
And here 5-6 small branches are enough for one liter of water, you should not make too strong an infusion. Similar in taste and color to cherry twig tea, but less intense. The aroma is more subtle, pleasant, the color is lighter, the taste is delicate.
This tea is good to drink after a hard day, it perfectly relieves stress, soothes and relaxes.
Apple twig tea
And here in your taste you can expect a surprise, because the taste depends on the variety of apples. For example, from the twigs of Antonovka you will get a drink with a wonderful taste, but the Chinese woman will add a light refined bitterness. You can try brewing tea from all varieties of apple trees growing on your site, and then, choosing the ones you like best, try to combine them with each other, discovering new flavors. By the way, keep in mind that the leaves of the apple tree contain a fairly large amount of vitamin C, so in the spring and autumn, you can brew the twigs right with the leaves.
An important condition: Before brewing, the branches (even with leaves, even without them) must be thoroughly rinsed under running water. By the way, if you brew with leaves, then it is better to pour boiled water and simmer for 10-20 minutes, not boiling, in order to preserve vitamin C, which, as you know, is destroyed during intense heat treatment. If desired, you can add honey, lemon, a few drops of lime or a little ginger to the tea.
Tea from apple twigs is good to drink with vitamin deficiency, it perfectly supports the body in the winter, helps to strengthen the immune system and cope with the flu, colds and sore throats.
