Description of Siberian leptandra

Siberian leptandra is a perennial herb, the height of which will fluctuate between forty and one hundred and fifty centimeters. The stems of this plant are rather large, furrowed and rounded; they can be either pubescent or bare. The leaves of the Siberian leptandra are in whorls of three to nine pieces, they can be either oblong or oblong-lanceolate. The length of such leaves of this plant will be about four to twelve centimeters, while the width will be equal to two to four centimeters. The flowers of the Siberian leptandra are quite numerous and sessile, they are clustered in the apical spike-shaped inflorescences, and their length will be about thirty centimeters, while the length of the corolla of this plant is seven to eight millimeters. In color, such a corolla will be purple, white or pink, it is endowed with lobes that grow into a tube, and inside it is hairy, while the tube will be much longer than the calyx and limb. The box of the Siberian leptandra can be either oblong or ovoid, it is two-celled, and its length is two and a half to three millimeters. The seeds of this plant are three millimeters long and are ovoid in shape. The flowering of Siberian leptandra falls on the period from June to July, while the fruits will ripen in August-September.

Under natural conditions, this plant is found on the territory of the Daursky and Angara-Sayan regions of Eastern Siberia, as well as on the territory of Sakhalin, Primorye and Priamurye in the Far East. For the growth of Siberian leptandra prefers mountain meadows, forests, forest edges, flood meadows and places among shrubs.

Description of the medicinal properties of Siberian leptandra

Siberian leptandra is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the herb, roots and rhizomes of this plant.

The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content in the composition of this plant of alkaloids, saponins, coumarins, cardenolides and the following iridoids: catalpol acetate, methylcatalpol acetate, aucubin, aucubin acetate, odontoside, isocatalpol, odontoside acetate, methylpolpol and catalpol and catalpol.

Siberian leptandra is endowed with antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, hypotensive, diuretic, antispasmodic, wound healing, hemostatic and anthelmintic effects. It is noteworthy that in the experiment it was proved that the extract of the herb of this plant is able to cause relaxation of the smooth muscles of the intestine, reduces the rhythm and increases the amplitude of contraction of the isolated horn of the rat uterus, reduces peristalsis, and is also used as a sedative and antihypertensive agent.

As for traditional medicine, an infusion is quite widespread here, which is prepared on the basis of the herb of this plant. Such a remedy is used for stomach and colds pains, bleeding, pulmonary tuberculosis and cystitis. In the form of tea, such a remedy based on Siberian leptandra is used for stomach ulcers and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, and also as a very effective antipyretic agent.
