For exotic lovers, a liana has settled in the tropics of Brazil, its large bright flowers adorn the world for a long period. In our climate, it can be grown as a houseplant, with the possibility of creating high humidity around the plant
Rod of Allamand
One and a half dozen vigorous climbing plants have united into a genus
Allamanda (Allamanda), decorating the rainforests with magnificent bright flowers, the corolla diameter of which reaches 12 cm.
Although the "veins" of Allamands flow
poisonous juices, the flower growers were captivated by the beauty and duration of the flowering of the plant, and therefore the especially desperate tried to tame the Brazilian beauty in order to decorate their life in this world.
The leaves of Allamanda, like many tropical plants, are dark green, leathery, shiny or dull.
Varieties
* Allamanda laxative (Allamanda cathartica) is a powerful evergreen with glossy or matte oval-lanceolate leaves and large flowers that are colored in different ways, from white and pink to orange and purple, but more often they are yellow funnel-shaped flowers exuding a delicate fruity aroma.
Under natural conditions, it grows up to 3.5 meters in height, choosing places where it is sunny and humid. For her, shade, alkaline and salty soils, low soil and air temperatures (below plus 18 degrees) are destructive.
Spiky seed capsules rarely form under growing conditions in culture, therefore, the plant is propagated by cuttings, which take root very easily and quickly.
* Allamanda oleandroliferous (Allamanda neriifolia) is an evergreen shrub, along the stem of which 3 to 5 pale green leaves are born in whorls. Like many tropical leaves, they are leathery, elliptical in shape. The "neck" of tubular-bell-shaped flowers with a golden-yellow corolla is decorated with orange-red stripes.
* Allamanda purple (Allamanda violacea) - differs in lilac-pink flowers that bloom in autumn. Compared to other species, it is a fairly resistant plant.
* Allamanda noble (Allamanda nobilis) - Prefers sandy or loamy moist soils and a location open to sunlight. Its evergreen leaves are simple, and the funnel-shaped flowers are yellow.
* Allamanda Shotta (Allamanda schottii) - unlike most relatives, this is not a liana, but a shrub, although it is almost as tall as them, growing up to 1, 5, or even up to 2, 5 meters. Leaves are elliptical to obovate. Large yellow flowers bloom more often in spring, but in natural conditions they can decorate a bush, almost all year round.
In general, sometimes very similar plants are hidden under different names. It is possible that one plant has its own names in different countries.
Growing
If suddenly there is a desire to acquire a beautifully flowering Allamanda,
remember the plant is toxic
In addition, the inhabitant of the humid tropics loves moisture everywhere: in the soil, in the air. In nature, Allamanda prefers to be located near water bodies, and in an apartment it would be best suited for her a bathroom, which has powerful lighting, because the plant also loves the sun. Or a place at the French door, generously letting sunlight through its doors.
The soil is prepared from a mixture of sod land, which forms the basis of the mixture (40 percent), with leaf humus, sand and peat, taken in equal quantities (that is, 20 percent each). In addition, the soil needs mineral supplements, for which they use extended-release mineral fertilizers. Plus, in the spring-summer period, liquid fertilizer is added to the water for irrigation once a week.
The appearance is maintained by removing wilted flowers, dried or damaged shoots, trimming overgrown branches.
Reproduction
In indoor conditions, propagate by spring cuttings.
Enemies
Dry air contributes to the invasion of spider mites.
The plant can be precipitated by whiteflies.

Nong Nooch Tropical Park
I think many remember from school the poem "Cherry" by Mikhail Isakovsky, in which the old man decided to plant a cherry by the road so that any traveler could relax in the shade of its crown and taste the juicy berries, remembering it with gratitude. And, if they do not remember, then it does not matter either. The main thing is that the cherry will grow and delight people. So the spouses from Thailand, having bought land, decided to give people an amazing park full of plant wonders
Hygrophila - Tropical Grass
Gygrophila is widespread in the tropical zone. At the same time, the habitat does not in any way affect the rate of its growth - both on the soil and under water, it will grow equally quickly. And this aquatic inhabitant is one of the main crops used in aquariums. At least one of its varieties will certainly be found in the aquarium of most aquarists - the wonderful hygrophila is equally in demand by both professionals and beginners
Clitoria Trifoliate - Tropical Climber
The flora of the tropics is rich. Favorable living conditions attract to these lands not only powerful palms, exotic fruit trees, but also many different herbaceous plants and lianas. One of the herbaceous tropical lianas is Clitoria trifoliate, which I met on the Thai island of Phangan. Fans of the picturesque plant grow Clitoria trifoliate in areas with cold winters, giving it a place in greenhouses, indoors, or using liana as an annual
