Topnyak is spread literally all over the world. It grows equally well in fresh and brackish water bodies. Moreover, this plant, which is somewhat reminiscent in appearance of a custard, perfectly adapts to aquarium conditions. The design of any aquarium with this aquatic inhabitant will look more than advantageous. And its name is due to the fact that it can often be found in the swamps. He also has one more name - hara, but it is much less common
Getting to know the plant
Topnyak is a representative of higher algae and occupies an intermediate position between lichens and algae. It consists of long internodes characterized by the absence of lateral shoots, and its wattle fence can reach a length of thirty centimeters.
Slender long stalks of the tartar are painted in emerald color. Side branches, as well as false needle-like leaves, branch off from their nodules in whorls. As a rule, all these branches are unbranched, however, in their sinuses, lateral branches of an impressive length, similar in structure to the main ones, can sometimes develop. In nature, the stalks of the firewood are almost always covered with thin lime crusts. Falling down, such crusts form impressive limestone layers at the bottom of reservoirs. But in aquariums, such crusts can be observed only if they are placed in highly illuminated places.
The coloration of this plant can vary from pale green tones to juicy green hues; for the most part, it is directly dependent on the conditions of detention.
How to grow
For keeping such an original plant as a tartar, aquariums of small sizes, installed near windows in well-lit places, are ideal. Lighting for this handsome man should be as bright as possible. However, it must be protected from direct sunlight. The duration of daylight hours for a tartar tree should, on average, be 12-14 hours.
It is recommended to use fine-grained river sand as aquarium soil (white quartz is also perfect), preferably with a relatively small amount of silt. And in nature, clay soils are preferable for the tartar.
The most suitable temperature range for growing this aquatic beauty is the range from 25 to 30 degrees. In principle, it can be grown in both warm water and cold water aquariums. Hardness is suitable in the range from two to sixteen degrees, and the optimal acidity is from 5, 0 to 8, 0. This plant is absolutely unpretentious to the chemical composition of water, and it is also very favorable to old water. Moreover, the tartar itself perfectly purifies the water, collecting numerous suspended particles of unpleasant turbidity on its branches. It is recommended to periodically remove heavily contaminated plants from the aquarium and rinse them under running water. If this is not done, the leaves of the tartar tree will eventually acquire a very unattractive appearance and may even deteriorate. It is still better to filter the water in the aquarium, since the above cleaning procedures are clearly not good for this green water rescuer.
This original plant also serves as an excellent spawning substrate for fish, and its thickets provide an excellent hiding place for tiny fry.
Reproduction of tartar is possible only vegetatively - an adult plant is divided into several parts. In order for it to begin to develop, it is enough just to throw a small twig into the water. And the tartar grows continuously throughout the year. Growing up, this handsome man forms bizarre thickets, densely intertwining with each other. Due to the incredibly active reproduction and growth, the tartar needs systematic thinning.
In general, the marshmallow is rather unpretentious in care, and it also does not require any additional mineral supplements.
