I was so carried away by the lesson - observing butterflies that today I spent about 40 minutes “hunting” for interesting photos. At the same time, I found out a lot of interesting features of the behavior of "heavenly fairies"
Butterflies are already so accustomed to my presence in the garden that they let me as close as possible. Shooting is carried out, without approximation, from a distance of 20-30 cm from objects. Today there was a case when a huge Admiral sat down on my clothes. It is a pity that the frame turned out to be indistinct. He was too close to the camera.
An interesting newly planted flower with marble leaves - heliopsis - has recently blossomed in the garden. Yellow, bright, like the sun, inflorescences, similar to daisies, attracted the attention of the white woman.
In the neighborhood there are large bushes of rudbeckia with yellowish-mustard petals. I would never have thought that the tough brown centers of the flower give off fragrant nectar. Stamens with pollen are not visible to an outside observer. And butterflies unmistakably find the most delicious meals for themselves. At the same time, several specimens of peacock's eye and urticaria were observed on rudbeckia.
A glade with zinnias attracted lemongrass and whitewash to its buds. The proximity of different species does not prevent them from collecting sweet juices, sitting on the same bush. The middle of the inflorescence consists entirely of yellow fluffy stamens. There is so much nectar that there is enough for everyone. Several dozen insects visit one flower per day.
Apparently the yellow tint is held in high esteem by heavenly creatures. Belyanka with lemongrass continued their meal on the undersized statice. She specially came closer to feel the smell exuded by this plant. It tastes like sweet caramel. That is why insects love to visit the statice meadow so much.
Not only beautifully blooming crops are in demand among excellent representatives. They are not averse to feasting on the nectar of the field bindweed, medicinal dandelion, and yellow thistle.
Fragrant cucumber inflorescences attract the attention of not only bees, but also butterflies. Fairies often sit down on cucumber beds. They are not afraid of the neighborhood of bees. Together they work together to create a crop, unwittingly increasing the number of ovaries.
The admiral took a fancy to a bright flower bed with dye coreopsis. The fluttering creature examined the plants for a long time, posing for the camera. It turned out to be a gorgeous shot. The beauty of a flower matches its visitor.
Coming closer to a young bush of northern cherries, I was surprised at the number of Admirals sitting on its fruits. This is the first time I meet these representatives in such an unusual place. The slight sourness of red juicy berries was to their taste. The most interesting thing is that a cherry of the Vladimirovka variety grows nearby. Black, sweeter than neighboring cherries. But there I did not meet, not a single butterfly.
Newly blossomed one-year-old dahlias "Merry Guys" have become the favorite of today. This is where the whole insect "kingdom" has gathered. From morning to evening, the reception of visitors does not stop. Among the first are bees, bumblebees. In the neighborhood, several buds were chosen by butterflies of all names. At the same time, more than a dozen light-winged creatures dine in a clearing of 10 plants: peacock eyes, urticaria, whiteworms, lemongrass.
For the first time I met a representative of forest pearls, unusual for my garden. Scientifically, it is called paphia. A large butterfly circled the garden for a long time until she chose dahlias for her dinner. It was difficult to determine the exact name from the atlas. Because there are many subspecies with similar wings.
I used to work in the garden, not paying attention to the fauna of this place. Watching insects has become an exciting experience for me, allowing me to brighten up ordinary everyday life. Turn an ordinary day into a holiday. With the increase in blossoming buds, the variety of butterflies in the garden has increased significantly. Single copies: Admiral, Makhaon, Pafia - I met for the first time. They are very different from other representatives, often in large numbers on the site. Regal, bright color, large size - distinguish them from the general mass.
Recently I came to the conclusion that a world without butterflies would not be so colorful. They disinterestedly give us a good mood, instill optimism and joy in life.
