Carnation Shabo

In principle, this medium-sized, but charming flower may not be sown to obtain seedlings, but planted with seeds directly into the ground. But in this case, it will not bloom this year, and in order to admire the beauty, you will have to wait another year, since after planting with carnation seeds, the carnation blooms no earlier than 5-6 months. Therefore, in order to get a beautiful flowerbed by July, it is worth taking care of planting now.

In addition to early planting on seedlings, Shabo will not deliver any other troubles: she is undemanding to soil, cold and drought-resistant, but loves light, which should be taken into account when choosing her permanent "place of residence" in a flower bed.

Any soil is suitable for planting seedlings, but I prefer light commercial soil, which contains enough nutrients for good growth and development of seedlings. We select a container of the desired size, the height of which is 6 centimeters or more, fill it with earth (in principle, if you don’t want to buy, then soil from your site will do), carefully distribute the seeds over the surface. Then sprinkle with a thin, about 2-3 millimeters, layer of soil or sand (in this case, sand is preferable, but it is advisable to ignite it in advance). We cover the container with a film (you can also use a newspaper). It is necessary to take good care that the soil does not dry out, if necessary - watering with a sprayer, the best time for watering is in the morning.

After about 7-10 days, sprouts will appear, some seeds may hatch earlier, by about the fifth day, but these will be single shoots. After the sprouts appear, we remove the film and transfer the seedlings to a cool, but always bright, room with an air temperature of about 15 degrees Celsius. As they grow, our fragile weak future flowers will need to additionally (very carefully!) Add soil. At the same time, please note that watering should be moderate, in no case do not flood the plants, otherwise they will begin to fade. If this nevertheless happened, then remove the dead sprouts, and sprinkle the place where they were with ash or sand.

During the growth of Shabo, you will need to dive twice. The first time after the appearance of two true leaves, the second time - around the middle of March, the second time the plants are transplanted into individual containers.

If you want to get more lush bushes, then do not forget to pinch Shabo when there are 5-6 main leaves on the plant.

In mid-May (and in the southern regions of our country it is possible in early May), the carnation is planted in open ground.

Ever-flowering begonia

What this flower is good for is its long flowering, which begins around mid-June (subject to early planting for seedlings) and ends right after the onset of cold weather. This means that your flower bed will not be empty all summer and autumn. Since the plant is not tall (usually 20 centimeters, the maximum height is 30-35 centimeters), it is good to use it as a ground cover, or it can be used as an ampelous plant.

Begonia requires good nutritious soil, which can be purchased at any store. The seeds of this plant are very small, so for easier sowing and even distribution, it is better to mix them with sand, but not necessarily. The seeds are evenly (as far as possible) distributed over the soil surface, then the container is covered with a film. If necessary, the soil is moistened with a sprayer. After the first shoots appear, the film can be removed for a couple of hours a day, and after two weeks it can be completely removed. Begonia dive after the appearance of 3-4 true leaves. In May, it can be planted in a permanent place.

Important: Protect begonia seedlings from direct sunlight, she loves light, but does not like the sun.
