If you have large-flowered and polyanthus varieties in your flower garden, you should know that they are actively forming flower shoots on the stems of the last year. And those who are 3-4 years old, you can not regret cutting them off.

In addition, it is necessary to carry out sanitary cleaning and get rid of the weak, sick, thin, dry and beaten by frost, with mechanical damage, broken, as well as those that began to grow in the wrong direction and violate the harmonious composition. How to prune climbing and standard varieties

Climbing roses are less pruned in comparison with shrub roses. This is due to the fact that with a short cut, the lashes grow extremely long, but they will not please flower growers with the formation of buds in the current year. Therefore, mainly weak and thin shoots are removed from plants, as well as diseased ones - damaged by frost, broken by winds. In the remaining mass, pruning is done just enough so that the rose does not go beyond the boundaries assigned to it in the garden composition.

In pruning standard varieties, they adhere to the same rules as when working with shrub varieties. Another subtlety that needs to be considered when pruning is that the bushes that were planted in the garden last year (regardless of the season) are cut shorter. This applies to all groups of varieties.

Care after pruning

After the pruning operation, the rose must be fed. The best option for this would be decomposed manure. Organic matter is scattered right between the bushes, and then fertilizer is added with soil. 10 sq. M. area requires about 60 kg of manure.

So that the efforts are not in vain, you need to carefully monitor that the shrubs are not damaged by parasites. In particular, in April, leafworm caterpillars become active in the gardens. Spraying with chlorophos will help get rid of the pest.
