As strange as it may sound, wood residues can also bring significant benefits at a summer cottage. Therefore, do not underestimate them and rush to part with them as soon as possible - such "waste" can become excellent and necessary helpers in many summer cottage affairs and serve a very good service
Using felled trees
Felled trees are usually quickly removed to make room for new plantings. The same fate awaits the damaged and obsolete branches of large trees. But you can dispose of such waste right at the summer cottage. For example, old branches are not without success used for cooking in a barbecue stove or in a grill. They are also suitable for kindling a fireplace as firewood.
Smooth branches can be adapted when building backyard fences. Moreover, from a number of varieties, excellent and original wicker fences are obtained. Often, branches also perform decorative tasks - from such material, you can construct not only individual figures, but also beautiful compositions to decorate the landscape. Some logs or branches can serve as decorative elements of country furniture, as well as all kinds of supports, stands or parts of any household structures.
Small twigs and twigs of medium size, if left to rot in the compost heap, can be excellent fertilizer. Also, small twigs can be interrupted with a garden shredder (this is not difficult at all) and put on mulching in flower beds and in the garden. Sawdust will be no less high-quality mulch.
How to give a second life to old tree stumps
Almost every stump can be used to decorate rutaria, both in the form of single figurines and luxurious compositions. It is not forbidden to use them right where the tree used to grow: for example, landscape objects made of hemp with bright flower beds inside will look quite original. If you show your imagination, then in the cavity of the old hemp you can place not only berry bushes, culinary spices, various herbs and flowers, but even a rather finicky bonsai.
Why use sawdust
At the end of the sawing work, there is always a large amount of sawdust, which can also be used with tangible benefits. The scope of their application is very wide. As mentioned above, sawdust is rightfully considered a high-quality mulch, and not only in the garden or in the garden, but also for domestic plants (including decorative ones). If special equipment is available, fuel pellets are also produced from sawdust. You can also prepare a good substrate from them, which is important for gardeners who grow mushrooms. They have also proven themselves well in the composition of various organic fertilizers.
Among other things, sawdust is a wonderful insulation. If you collect them in sufficient quantities, then you can well insulate with them both the floors in the sheds and the floors of country houses. But that's not all. As a drying and insulating layer, it is good to underlay them with domestic animals (for example, in cages with nutria, in rabbitries or in dog enclosures). In construction and repair work, sawdust is also used quite widely: by mixing them well with PVA glue, it is easy to get an excellent putty for sealing large cracks in wood. Moreover, this mixture can also be used to coat the seams between OSB panels - as a result, the seams will be practically invisible.
Application of tree bark
After crushing, the bark can become a good material not only for mulching, but also a kind of decoration for the soil. Wood chips from the bark will be especially suitable for protecting soils in orchards - they should be poured into the tree trunks with a layer of 5 - 7 cm. In this case, the soil will not lose its integrity, but the woody root system will be reliably protected from drying out.
The bark of trees is also a good fuel, but it is important to know that it often smokes a lot, so it is better to use it not in home stoves, but in barbecues.
If you have the appropriate equipment, you can also make organo-mineral fertilizers from tree bark, press pellets that hold excellent heat, use the bark as an additive to certain substrates, etc.
