Dracaena Sander also known under such names as bamboo lacquers and bamboo of happiness. As for the name of the plant itself, then in Latin it will be like this: Dracaena sanderiana.

Description of the features of growing dracaena sander

Dracaena Sandera can grow both in the sun and in the shade, as well as in partial shade. Throughout the summer season, the plant will need moderate watering, and the air humidity should be kept at an average level. The life form of dracaena sander is an evergreen shrub.

The plant can be grown not only in indoor conditions, but also in winter gardens, as well as in hotel halls, restaurant halls and in any other general purpose premises. It should be noted that dracaena sandera is quite often used in various flower arrangements, which is due to the presence of beautiful spirally curled shoots of this plant. In dracaena culture, sander is capable of reaching a maximum height of about eighty centimeters to one and a half meters.

For the favorable development of dracaena sander, regular feeding will be required throughout the entire period of active growth of this plant: this period falls on the time from March to August. This feeding should be done two to three times a month. As for winter and autumn, it will be quite enough to feed once a month. For such dressings, it is recommended to use fertilizers that are intended for dracaena or palm trees. In addition, as top dressing, it is also permissible to use those fertilizers that are necessary for decorative deciduous indoor plants.

Throughout the rest period for dracaena sander, it will be necessary to ensure an optimal temperature of about fifteen to twenty degrees Celsius. The plant needs moderate watering during this period, and the air humidity should be kept at an average level. When dracaena sandera is grown indoors, such a dormant period is forced and it lasts from October to February. The dormant period of dracaena sander arises due to the fact that at this time the air humidity is rather low, and the plant also receives an insufficient degree of illumination.

Reproduction of this plant can occur not only with the help of air layers, but also by means of apical cuttings and stem segments. It is important to remember that dracaena sandera should be grown in a bright place, especially for those varieties that are variegated. The air temperature must be constantly kept at the level of seventy-seventy-five percent: only in this case the plant will be able to develop safely. It is important to ensure a constantly moist state of the soil in the pot where this plant grows.

Decorative properties are endowed not only with the leaves, but also with the stem of the dracaena sander. The leaves of this plant are lanceolate, they are about fifteen to twenty centimeters long, and their width reaches one to three centimeters. In color, the leaves of this plant will be either green or white, and these leaves are also endowed with silver-gray stripes.

As for the stem of this plant, the green shoots are endowed with a spiral-twisted upper part. Such shoots can be kept in water and then planted in soil designed for palm trees.

Plants will need to be transplanted: young plants should be transplanted once a year or two, while older plants should be transplanted every three to four years. Especially large specimens of this plant do not need to be transplanted; you only need to update their topsoil.
