The growing popularity of white-headed cauliflower in vegetable gardens is a worthy competitor to its white-headed relative. And there are good reasons for this: in terms of nutritional value, it is close to chicken meat, and at the same time, it is better absorbed by its head sister. And if you grow cauliflower, which also has a bright shade - orange, purple, green - the health benefits of eating this vegetable can be increased significantly

Features and properties of cauliflower of different colors

The rainbow color of cauliflower is not only a beautiful external attribute of a vegetable, but also a signal that it contains more certain biologically active substances. Let's take a closer look at this colorful variety:

• A beautiful light green color is characteristic of Romanesco cauliflower. In addition to its interesting color, the vegetable will surprise with its unusual shape in the form of a cone, assembled in a spiral from miniature pyramids. The seeds of this variety can also be found under the name Emerald Goblet. A more traditional head shape, but also a rich green hue, is possessed by the varieties and hybrids of Cosmos, Universal, Shannon, Green Trevi F1. This product is extremely useful for cleansing the blood and liver, helps to establish the digestion process.

• Hybrids Yarik F1, Cheddar F1, Sunset F1 have golden yellow color and orange color. They are characterized by a high content of beta-carotene, which is very useful for improving the condition of blood vessels, for vision and the nervous system. In addition, the use of such a vegetable has a positive effect on youth and skin regeneration, and helps to quickly tighten wounds. Provitamin A is a powerful antioxidant that boosts the body's immune potential.

• Purple is the color inherent in the Graffiti F1 hybrid. This color indicates a high iodine content. Therefore, cabbage containing this pigment is useful in the diet for those who suffer from thyroid diseases. Another useful quality of such an unusual color is that it protects vitamin E from destruction in cells, and that, in turn, is responsible for general rejuvenation. In addition to Graffiti F1, such varieties as Lilac Ball, Rosalind, Amethyst F1 hybrids, and Purple Queen F1 have purple and purple hues.

Of course, the huge benefits of eating such cauliflower are a definite plus in favor of the vegetable. But I would like the dish to have an attractive look. And in order to preserve an interesting color of the heads, they are recommended to be steamed or in batter, and a small amount of citric acid should be added during cooking.

Sowing cauliflower outdoors

Sowing of cauliflower for seedlings begins in March. This allows for an earlier harvest and protects against spring frosts. However, when sowing in June directly into open ground, you can also have time to get a crop. Moreover, it was noticed that in this case the plant turns out to be stronger, less capricious, with a good root system. Developing in more "harsh" conditions, in comparison with greenhouse or greenhouse seedlings, they are better hardened and not so demanding on nutrition and soil moisture. And the period of development is significantly reduced.

But along with these advantages, the gardener needs to be prepared for the fact that the seedlings will need to be looked after more carefully. The beds should not be thickened and brought to the appearance of weeds. In addition, in the garden it is more difficult to protect your pets from parasites, so here you also need to keep your ears open.

For summer crops, a site is chosen after potatoes, root crops, and legumes. The seed should be treated with hot water. Planting in a row is done at a distance of 65-70 cm. The sowing depth is up to 1 cm. The row spacing is left approximately 35-40 cm.
