The perception of the room, the mood of the household depends on the design of the bed. The best decor option is a quilted bedspread. Today, such a touch is in fashion, makes the room original and cozy. Let's consider the options and tell you how to sew the bedspread yourself
Varieties of bedspreads
The purpose of any bedspread is to protect bed linen from dirt and decorate. What is a quilted bedspread? These are two canvases of any fabric with a layer of filler. The original bump and pattern are obtained by stitching / sewing on all layers. Thanks to this structure, the product does not wrinkle and always has an attractive and homely look.
The basis can be synthetic fibers: viscose, acrylic, fleece, microfiber. Among natural ones, they choose cashmere, cotton, bamboo, wool, silk and satin are popular. The filler is a layer of padding polyester, batting, and cotton wool, wool can also be used.
Caring for the bedspread is normal. Machine wash at 30-40 degrees and a gentle spin (400-600 rpm). The presence of batting inside is only hand made. If the top trim is made of wrinkled fabrics, ironing is allowed with a not very hot iron. With padding polyester or foam rubber, ironing is excluded. It is preferable to dry not in the sun.
Choosing the color of the bedspread
Difficulties always arise when choosing. When making a decision, you need to take into account the dimensions of the room, the design of the room, the size of the bed. The lighting of the room, practicality, quality of the material, and possibly hypoallergenicity, will be important for making a decision.
Achieve harmony in the interior is possible only with the correct entry into the overall color scheme. It is important to correlate the facade of the furniture, the color of the curtains, the wall covering. If the wallpaper in the room is plain, then a blanket of the same palette, but with a pattern, will look perfect. As you can see, color is the main factor for selection. By the way, it is important for emotional and mental balance.
A bedspread gains versatility if it has a different color on each side. For example, one side is done in unison with furniture, carpet or walls, and the other is in complete contrast. It helps to eliminate annoyance and create bursts of renewal, which is always beneficial for the state of mind.
You can add a little warmth to the cold tones of the room by covering the bed with a warm-colored blanket. The border color between cold and warm is green. Neutral will be gray, beige, pale pink, lilac, sea wave, pistachio, pale orange, delicate amaranth, etc. So you can play with color in harmony or contrast.
Choosing a material
When choosing, there are two guidelines: practicality and environmental friendliness. Of course, cotton will satisfy everyone and is the best solution. Comfortable when both sides are made of satin or calico. Usually this option is chosen for a children's room - it is hygienic and practical.
Children are always happy with a quilted bedspread. For boys, they choose gray-green, bluish tones, for girls - peach, pink, cream. And they decorate with applications of cartoon characters, flowers, images of animals.
The quality of the stitching is of prime importance. The stitching threads should give expression. Contrasting ones make the drawing more picturesque and rich. Therefore, they are stitched on a dark fabric with light threads and vice versa: with dark ones - on a light one. If you want to get a refined relief, then buy light threads for a light base, slightly changing the shade.
Making a quilted bedspread
We measure the length of the bed, take into account the height and width. We add on each side to shrink on a stitch and hem by 5 cm. Subtract 2-3 cm from the height so that the coverlet does not touch the floor. When planning to make a frill, multiply the total length by 1, 5. It is more convenient to work if you make a detailed drawing on paper.
Now cut out two canvases (front and bottom), the filler lining is done without allowances. We fix all three layers with a seam along the edge. Now all that remains is quilting. For an inexperienced craftsman, it is better to make a shape template (rhombus / square) and use it to apply a pattern on the surface for shading. Or, starting from the corner, stitch with a basting seam around the template, capturing all three layers. So move along the surface in stages to the opposite side.
Now it remains to sew the product along the resulting lines. The frill is a matter of taste: it can be finely gathered, straight, pleated, with edging. The main thing is to cut it out correctly, maintaining a single direction. Now sew on the frill and you can enjoy the resulting masterpiece.
