Rattunda pepper (lat. Capsicum annuum) - vegetable culture belonging to the Solanaceae family, which is one of the varieties of sweet pepper. She also has a second name - gogoshar.

Description

The fruits of the ratunda peppers boast a very unusual shape (they are all round and slightly flattened) and a bright red, yellow or green color. And sometimes you can meet purple, pinkish or even black peppers! By the way, outwardly, these funny fruits are very reminiscent of the well-known sweet Bulgarian peppers. The walls of ratunda peppers are always extremely fleshy and surprisingly tender, and their thickness often reaches seven millimeters or even more. And the weight of each fruit does not exceed one hundred and fifty grams.

The ripening process of roundunda peppers takes from one hundred and fifty to one hundred and seventy days, and up to five kilograms of peppers can be harvested from each square meter.

As for the taste of the fruit, it is quite sweet, with a barely perceptible excellent honey flavor. However, the fruit of the ratunda pepper is still spicier than regular peppers. But the pungency of the ratunda peppers is not too hot - it is somewhat reminiscent of the rich Hungarian paprika.

One of the characteristic features of ratunda peppers is that this culture can easily be pollinated with hot pepper. By the way, plants with rather burning fruits can become the result of such cross-pollination. Therefore, in order to grow fruits of proper quality, it is better to purchase seeds only from trusted and well-known producers. However, bitter fruits are also useful - on their basis, a wonderful spicy adjika is prepared.

The first couple of harvests of peppers should be removed as soon as they reach technical maturity, that is, brown, and placed in a dark, warm place for subsequent ripening.

Rotunda pepper is grown almost everywhere, so it can be found in the vast majority of countries.

Usage

Ratunda peppers are actively used in the preparation of all kinds of vegetable sauces, as well as delicious meat dishes and salads. In addition, they are ideal for stuffing - these peppers are especially good stuffed with sour cream. Before you start stuffing the ratunda peppers, they must be washed, freed from the stalks and even boiled a little. And gourmets assure that there is nothing better than ratunda peppers marinated with honey. By the way, once these peppers were not only pickled, but also fermented in barrels. But that's not all - the ratunda peppers are ideal for preservation and for preparing delicious first and second courses.

Round peppers have a fairly high content of vitamin C - they contain even more of it than black currant or lemon. Well-ripened fruits are especially rich in this vitamin, so you should not cut off unripe specimens in the summer. These healthy peppers also contain vitamin P, which, in combination with vitamin C, helps to strengthen the walls of blood vessels. And this pepper is also very useful for the heart. And also ratunda pepper is very rich in valuable organic acids, natural starch, dietary fiber, beta-carotene and a great many of the most valuable microelements.

As for the calorie content, it is very low in round-bell peppers - only 26 kcal for every 100 g of this very useful product.

By the way, it is possible to grow ratunda peppers both for eating and for aesthetic pleasure - they will become a great decoration for any garden: the decorativeness of this culture is very high.

Growing and caring

Loamy soils, which provide an unobstructed flow of air, are best suited for growing ratunda peppers. It is especially good to plant this crop after cucumbers or cabbage.

Round peppers need regular watering - they should be watered with exceptionally warm water and only when the sun goes down.
