Hybrid nemesia (lat. Nemesia x hybrida) - an artificially created representative of the Nemesia genus of the Norichnikov family. Includes a huge number of interesting and profusely flowering varieties, actively used by European and Russian gardeners and flower growers to decorate personal backyard plots. Recently, varieties of hybrid nemesia have been taking part in the landscaping of large city parks and gardens. The species is appreciated for the variety of colors, fast growth and high decorative properties.

General characteristics of culture

Hybrid nemesia is represented by annual plants, which, as they grow, form rather lush bushes no more than 60 cm high. Also, on sale you can find dwarf varieties not exceeding 30 cm in height. The stems, in turn, are crowned with medium-sized, lanceolate, crenellated foliage along the edge rich or dark green color.

Flowers in all varieties have an irregular shape, they do not exceed 2-3 cm in diameter, they can be single or collected in weighty brushes, which are formed at the tips of the stems. Flowering is profuse, long, occurs in early - mid June and ends in late August - mid September. In warm regions, flowering can last until the third decade of September.

As a rule, varieties of hybrid nemesia are presented commercially in the form of mixtures. They can have different colors and sizes of flowers. They are united only by the height. Among the varieties that have won the recognition of gardeners and florists, it is worth noting the Fragrant Cloud variety. It is characterized by unpretentiousness, drought resistance and cold resistance. The variety is represented by plants, the height of which does not exceed a mark equal to 20 cm. Over time, under the weight of numerous lilac or purple flowers, the plants take on a creeping shape.

The Tubelina variety is endowed with similar properties. The plants reach a height of 20 cm, they are literally covered with small lavender flowers with a blue undertone. The difference between the two varieties in question is the shape of the stems. If at Fragrant Cloud they spread, then at the Tubelin variety they droop. Therefore, it is recommended to use it for decorating balconies by landing in garden containers and hanging containers.

Use of culture

Due to the rich color range of hybrid nemesia varieties, the plants are suitable for the formation of any type of flower garden. They are appropriate for decorating curbs, sidewalk paths, mixborders, as well as rocky gardens like an alpine slide and rockery. It is not forbidden to plant varieties of hybrid nemesia on the lawn. The rich flowers will harmoniously merge with the green of the lawn and create a stunning effect. In addition, nemesia goes well with other flower crops, which are characterized by drooping or creeping shoots. The main thing is to keep the optimal distance when landing.

Care

The varieties of hybrid nemesia cannot be called whimsical. To achieve abundant flowering and active growth, it is enough to provide her with regular watering, feeding, weeding and, finally, pinching and removing faded inflorescences. Watering is recommended as the root zone dries up, but special attention should be paid to watering in the heat and at the time of mass flowering. Weeding should be done as needed. It is important to remember that weeds are able to take away from the culture the lion's share of the nutrients that are required to gain green mass and form flowers.

Similar requirements apply to loosening. They should be carried out with care, taking care not to damage the roots. Top dressing is recommended to be carried out at least 2-3 times per season. The first at the time of planting seedlings in open ground, the rest with an interval equal to 3-4 weeks. Removal of faded inflorescences is also encouraged. This procedure will prolong the flowering period of the plants.
