It should be noted that this plant is grown only as an ampelous plant. As for the maximum size in culture, the length of the shoots of the hybrid columnea can reach about forty centimeters.

Description of the features of the care and cultivation of the hybrid columnea

For the favorable development of the hybrid columnea, a regular transplant will be required, which is recommended at intervals of every two to three years. For transplanting, you should pick up either shallow pots or hanging baskets. As for the composition of the land mixture, you will need to mix two parts of sand, three parts of peat and six parts of leafy soil. In addition to everything else, a little sphagnum, charcoal and mullein will have to be added to such a mixture. Moreover, the acidity of such soil can be both slightly acidic and acidic.

The humidity should not be allowed to drop below sixty-five percent, otherwise this plant will begin to shed its buds and leaves. Stagnation of moisture in the soil can also have an extremely negative effect on the development of the hybrid columnea. Frequent spraying is essential for this plant and has a very positive effect on its development. Sometimes the hybrid columnea can be affected by a whitefly or a spider mite.

Throughout the entire dormant period of the hybrid columnea, it is required to maintain a temperature regime in the range between twelve and fifteen degrees of heat. At the same time, it is important not to forget that watering the plant is required quite rarely. The dormant period of the Columnea hybrid will begin around the end of August and will continue until October. Reproduction of this plant occurs through rooting of green cuttings. Such cuttings are rooted either in water or in a mixture of peat and sand, while the temperature of the soil should be about twenty to twenty-five degrees Celsius.

It is important to remember that it is required to water the hybrid columna only with soft water, in which there is no lime content. In order for the formation of flower buds to occur, it is required to provide a slight decrease in temperature to about fourteen degrees Celsius. This temperature regime should last for about two to three weeks in December or in the month of January. Columnea hybrid is in no case allowed to be kept outdoors.

The flowers of this plant are endowed with decorative properties. In color, the leaves of the hybrid columnea are green, and in shape they will be either elongated-pointed or rounded. Such leaves will be velvety, fleshy and opposite.

The flowering of the hybrid columnea occurs in the spring and summer. The flowers of this plant are colored either yellow, or red, or orange. The flowers are quite large, and their shape is very original and they are endowed with a two-lipped corolla.
