Iresine Lindenii - a colorful and unpretentious culture, actively used in home floriculture and gardening, is especially relevant in countries with warm and temperate climates. Belongs to the genus of herbaceous plants from the Amaranth family. In nature, the species in question is found in the rainforests of Brazil.

Characteristics of culture

Irezine Lindena is a rather rare plant, reaching a height of up to 80 centimeters, forming branchy stems during growth with narrow, glossy, elliptical leaves about 7 centimeters long. This plant species has a very colorful leaf color, bright pink veins against the background of the dark red main color of the leaf. Inflorescences are small, slightly decorative, light yellow, collected in axillary panicles, with pale colored bracts.

Location

Irezine Linden is a very thermophilic and sun-loving plant, choosing a place for it, you must take these conditions into account, regardless of where it will be located, in the house or on the site. Indoors, it is advisable to place the plant on a window facing the south or southeast side. If you do not provide it with the necessary lighting, the shoots will begin to stretch, and the color will become faded.

Care

The considered flower culture is moisture-loving, it must be watered sparingly, but often so that the soil in a pot or flower bed always remains moist. In the hot season, you need to add spraying to avoid drying out of the leaves. In winter, if the plant is indoors, watering should be slightly reduced, but at the same time try to maintain the optimal temperature regime from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. The plant grows very rapidly so that it looks aesthetically pleasing and well-groomed, dry leaves must be removed, and the shoots must be cut and pinched. Pruned young shoots can be used for propagation, in which case the plant is best pruned in the spring so that the cuttings can be planted immediately.

Transfer

Despite the fact that the root system develops very quickly, the plant does not need to change the soil annually. You need to transplant the plant once every 2-3 years; if necessary, you can replace the upper part of the soil. The number of transplants will be forced to increase if in summer the plant is transplanted into open ground until autumn. The ideal soil for replanting Irezine Linden consists of deciduous soil, humus, turf and sand in a ratio (1: 1: 1: 0.5).

Reproduction

This type of plant propagates by cuttings; young, non-lignified shoots with a length of at least 10 centimeters are suitable for this. The material is harvested in the spring while trimming an adult bush. After the cuttings are prepared, they need to be planted in a container with a mixture of sand and peat in a 1: 1 ratio, and watered abundantly. In a room with young plants, you need to maintain an optimal temperature regime of 20 - 25 degrees Celsius and ensure regular watering. Within a few days, the cuttings will take root and can be looked after as if they were mature plants.

Top dressing

In the cold season, Irezine Linden has a dormant period, that is, the plant does not need fertilizers. Starting from spring, during the period of active growth, it must be fed at least once a week with mineral and organic fertilizers.

Pests

Thrips are small, winged, dark yellow insects. For their habitat, they choose the lower part of the leaf or flower stalks of a houseplant. The sap is sucked out of the plant, as a result of which the plant loses its bright color and becomes covered with black dots (insect excrement). Treatment: spray the leaves with cold water several times a day. In very advanced cases, use a soap - kerosene emulsion. Especially carefully handle the places of accumulation of parasites.

The real scale insect is a small insect, it has a long proboscis, which sticks to the leaves and stem of plants and, remaining in this position, emits a shield above itself that protects it from the action of poisons. Treatment: The insect is destroyed by hand by treating the plant with a brush dipped in a mild soap solution, special attention should be paid to the "nooks" of the bush.
