Excellent raspberry (lat. Rubus spectabilis) - a fruit crop, which is one of the representatives of the large family of Pink.

Description

The excellent raspberry is a wild-growing perennial shrub, the height of which can reach three meters. The shape of its jagged leaves, reaching twenty centimeters in length, vaguely resembles grape leaves. All leaves are painted in a rich and juicy green color, and in autumn they acquire amazingly beautiful red and yellow shades.

The flowers of this culture boast a luxurious purple or bright pink color, and their diameter ranges from two to three centimeters. The flowering of excellent raspberries can be observed from early spring until June, and the flowers are pollinated by butterflies and bees.

The fruits of the excellent raspberry are colored either yellow-red or yellow. They ripen in August, and such berries can hang on the branches before the onset of the first frost.

This plant perfectly tolerates even severe frosts and is endowed with the ability to bear fruit up to eight years of life.

Where grows

Despite the fact that a productive variety of this crop was successfully bred in Germany, it managed to take root only in a number of North American states. And in the wild, the excellent raspberry is quite often found in forests, in areas characterized by high soil moisture. This culture tends to grow at a truly lightning speed, as a result of which it quickly forms difficult thickets and drowns out all other vegetation.

Application

Fresh berries of excellent raspberry can be consumed in unlimited quantities. And they are also actively used in the manufacture of jams, preserves, marmalades, compotes and incomparable wine.

The fruits, leaves and roots of excellent raspberries are widely used in folk medicine. Finely chopped leaves are an excellent raw material for compresses applied to burns, and decoctions from the roots are an excellent astringent and disinfectant. As for infusions from leaves, they will become a real find for relieving toothache or headache.

The dried and crushed bark of the plant is applied to non-healing or purulent wounds and burns, and young leaves with twigs are brewed in order to obtain healthy and very tasty tea.

The fruits are very rich in various trace elements and vitamins, as well as essential oils, sugars, pectins and tannins.

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of these berries are identical to those to the use of regular raspberries.

Growing and caring

When planting this culture, it is important to remember that it is very hygrophilous, respectively, if the soil moisture is relatively low, excellent raspberries will need to be provided with abundant and regular watering. And a good harvest can really be obtained only on slightly acidic or neutral soils. Before planting this plant, the site must be thoroughly weeded out, and then thoroughly loosened and fertilized.

You can feed excellent raspberries with both rotted and fresh manure, and the amount of mineral fertilizers should be from thirteen to twenty-five grams per square meter of plantings.

The soil should be systematically loosened (approximately three to four times throughout the season) - this will help to get a good harvest. And watering is carried out once or twice a week - the soil during such watering should be moistened half a meter deep.

Twice a season it is necessary to fight pests: the first time before flowering, and then after the final harvest.
