High prices for planting material of a raspberry tree do not make it possible to immediately purchase the required amount of planting material. You can try to multiply your favorite varieties on your own on your site. What methods are applicable to an unusual culture?

Reproduction techniques

Several breeding methods are suitable for a raspberry tree:

1. Vegetative:

• cuttings;

• root layers;

• dividing the bush.

2. Seed.

The first option completely retains the hereditary characteristics of the maternal forms. Used even by inexperienced gardeners. Seed - more often used by breeders to breed a new hybrid. At home, he gives material with slightly altered qualities relative to the original plants.

Green cuttings

In mid-June, before flowering, semi-lignified twigs with 2-3 buds are cut. The upper cut is made straight, the leaf surface is reduced by half, the lower one is cut at an acute angle, the leaves are removed together with the petioles completely. The cuttings are kept in a heteroauxin solution or in a "vegetable elixir" for 24 hours.

The second option is prepared in advance. The willow twigs are cut and placed in the water. Keep until roots are formed (about a week). Shoots are removed. The herbal "preparation" is used to stimulate the root formation of other crops.

Root root powder is applied dry immediately before planting, dusting the lower part of the cutting.

The bed is filled with humus or peat, loosened with sand. Rows are cut every 25 cm, the distance in the furrow is set to 10-15 cm. The soil is pierced with a peg, the stalk is inserted, the upper kidney is placed above the surface. The earth around is compacted by hand.

Spill with water. They put a tag with the name of the variety. Through the arcs, the greenhouse is covered with a film. In a sunny place, shade from above with a non-woven material. Containers with water are installed inside to increase humidity.

Water as the surface of the substrate dries. After a month, with a positive result, the dormant buds start to grow. They are fed twice a season with complex fertilizer.

In the first year, before wintering, they are covered with sawdust or non-woven material is thrown through boxes over the plants, leaving an air gap of 20-30 cm. The next season, the seedlings are ready for transplantation to a permanent place in the garden.

Root layers

Dormant reserve buds are located on the roots of the crimson tree. In case of death of the main plant, they start to grow. In early spring, part of the roots is carefully dug out. They are cut off from the parent specimen. It is dripped in a damp substrate in the shade under the film.

After a while, seedlings appear above the ground. The rhizome is cut into pieces, leaving one shoot in each. Delenki are grown in greenhouses. They monitor the soil moisture throughout the season, preventing it from drying out. They are fed twice with a complex water-soluble fertilizer.

Splitting the bush

The unusual "tree" is characterized by a reduced growth rate. A small number of replacement shoots grows per year. In one place, standard forms can grow for 10-15 years. For rejuvenation, old specimens are disassembled into separate parts.

The entire plant is dug out in early spring. With a sharp knife, cut off the cut with 2-3 healthy shoots, a good powerful root system in each piece. Wounds are sprinkled with ash or treated with brilliant green.

The stems are pruned at a height of 25-35 cm from the ground, reducing evaporation from the leaf surface, allowing the plant to restore lost roots.

This technique is used to reproduce a particularly valuable variety. It is not recommended to divide bushes earlier than 7 years of age.

We will consider the seed method for increasing the planting material in the next article.
