It is incredibly demanded by aquarists - both experienced and beginners, because this aquatic inhabitant with amazing ease adapts to a wide variety of conditions and is characterized by uniform growth throughout all seasons. And the bright rich greens of the Caroline kabomba will certainly decorate even the most ordinary-looking aquarium

Getting to know the plant

Kabomba Caroline is endowed with long, smooth stems. As a rule, they are branched, fleshy and grow to a length of one and a half meters. The finely dissected fan-shaped leaves of this beauty located opposite each other are painted on top in pleasant dark greenish tones, and on the bottom - in light green. In width, they often reach 5 cm. The rhizomes of the Caroline kabomba are fragile and creeping, and the flowers are yellowish and small.

This amazing openwork plant also contributes to the cycle of all kinds of substances in aquariums. Its lush thickets are often used as a valuable spawning substrate, and they also provide excellent hiding places for tiny fry.

How to grow

In principle, the openwork kabomba Carolina does not impose any special requirements for the conditions of detention. It can be easily kept in both tropical and warm aquariums, where the water temperature should not fall below eighteen degrees - it is best to keep it within twenty-four degrees. A mild aquatic environment with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction is best suited for the development of this aquatic beauty. And if the water is of increased hardness, the Caroline kabomba will grow much slower, and its leaves will be smaller.

As for the soil for growing this aquatic inhabitant, it is better to give preference to silted soil. Also, it should be systematically enriched with all kinds of nutritious compounds. The ideal substrate will be small pebbles or sand - the roots of the openwork water beauty, although well developed, are incredibly delicate.

The water, which contains the Carolinian kabomba, must necessarily be clean, otherwise particles of debris will begin to accumulate on the beautiful aquatic inhabitant, and it will gradually lose its attractiveness. And in dirty water, its leaves often die off. In this regard, the water in the aquariums must be changed three to four times a month.

Various mineral fertilizers, as well as numerous special dressings, there is no need to purchase Caroline Kabomba - as a rule, it is content with natural precipitation resulting from the life of microorganisms and fish living in the aquarium, as well as food for fish and fresh water supplied during replacement.

When growing this delicate beauty, you need to take care of intense lighting. Of course, it is preferable if it is natural. But good artificial lighting with high-quality fluorescent lamps is also quite suitable. The daylight hours of the Caroline Kabomba should be provided within twelve hours or more. With a lack of light, it often stretches and turns yellow.

This graceful plant propagates in artificial conditions in almost all cases vegetatively - by cuttings of stems or rhizomes. Moreover, the Karolinska kabomba reproduces extremely well - it is enough to simply stick a cut twig or stalk into the ground. Unpretentious layering quickly enough to start up roots and perfectly take root in a new place.

Since the Caroline kabomba grows at an incredible rate, it often needs to be cut. By the way, trimmed cuttings can be rooted right away - then the thickets will turn out to be much more luxuriant. And when transplanting a wonderful aquatic plant, it is important not to forget that its delicate root system is quite easily injured. You should also know that this openwork aquatic inhabitant does not like transplants.

It is best to place a luxurious Caroline kabomba in any aquariums in the background - it is there that it is able to form an amazingly beautiful openwork curtain. It is also great for breeding in aquariums with small fish - swordtails, etc. And in combination with ferns and Javanese moss, this beauty will look especially impressive.
