To prevent this procedure from becoming an annual one, the instruments need proper care. It does not require a lot of time, as well as huge efforts. And in gratitude you will receive irreplaceable helpers for many years. Few follow instructions when working with inventory. Often they don't even know about it! All you need to do is read the instructions once. And you do not have to dig a garden with a blunt shovel, cut trees with blunt pruning shears. Sounds tempting? Better to save than to restore later

1. Clear inventory of soil and vegetation. Wash it. Dry the instrument. This is best done in the sun. Instruments are sufficient for 2-3 hours of sunshine and wind. It is they who will remove the remaining moisture.

2. Care is also needed for metal parts. They must be lubricated with special greases. You can get these at hardware stores. If there are no shops nearby or there is not enough money, then used engine oil is suitable for lubrication.

3. Next, you need to find a dry and cool place, protected from sunlight. This is where you put all your inventory.

4. But the secateurs must not only be lubricated, but also packed in special covers so that moisture does not get into them.

5. Wooden handles are also ready for winter. They need to be cleaned of earth and grass, and then sanded with sandpaper and covered with a layer of varnish. This is done in order to protect the tree from moisture. In some cases, wooden handles and cuttings are even coated with linseed oil.

6. Store inventory on racks, if this is not possible, it is better to store the tools vertically or hang them. Do not let your garden tools get wet.

7. Small equipment is best stored in a bucket of sand, which must first be soaked in specialized mineral oil. You can buy this at any garden store.

8. Tools that need sharpening have been subjected to this process since the fall.
