Cryptocoryne Tvaiteza is the most colorful representative of the genus, living in reservoirs located in Sri Lanka. It is great for decorating various aquariums, making almost any design solution much more successful. Cryptocoryne Tveteza is also attractive in that it is capable of excellent development both in the above-water and underwater state. And it will look equally good in both cases

Getting to know the plant

Cryptocoryne Tveitez is relatively small in height, growing on average up to twenty centimeters. Its root system, consisting of a single lobe, is superbly developed. And the stalks of this aquatic inhabitant are short and straight.

The young leaves of the Cryptocoryne of Tveitez have a narrow-lanceolate shape. Their bases, as well as the tops, are slightly pointed and smoothly turn into petioles. As for the old leaves, they gradually acquire an oval or teardrop shape. The bases of old leaves become rounded or heart-shaped, and their tops are blunt-pointed. These leaves are characterized by rough facial surfaces and jagged edges, and their coloration ranges from olive green to pleasant reddish brown.

The surfaces of the leaves of Tveteza's cryptocoryne are densely covered with transverse dark strokes, and their reverse sides are painted purple. The main and lateral veins are clearly visible on them. As a rule, there are up to seven of them on each leaf. The length of the leaves corresponds to their width as three to one, and the length of the petioles can coincide with the length of the leaves or be somewhat shorter.

The amazing flowers of the Cryptocorynes of Twiteiza open under water and reach seven and a half centimeters in height. Each flower is endowed with rectilinear tubes. Their petals are slightly turned inside out, and colorful specks of red-purple color form on their smooth inner parts.

How to grow

A warm and humid atmosphere will be optimal for the comfortable development of the beautiful Cryptocoryne Tvaiteza. And if you still place it in a shady place, then it will give much more spectacular soil shoots. As a soil, it is best to take a mixture of sour peat with oily clay and coarse sand.

The best water parameters for the cultivation of Tyvetez's cryptocorynes are considered to be an active medium within 6, 5 - 7, 2, hardness in the range from eight to twenty degrees and a temperature regime in the range from twenty to twenty-four degrees.

Despite the fact that the Cryptocoryne Tveitez is essentially a marsh plant, it is extremely demanding in terms of changing the water in the aquarium - once a week, you should try to change the water by at least a quarter. Also, this water beauty needs good water filtration.

The wonderful Cryptocoryne Tveitez does not require bright lighting - its intensity in the range from 0.5 to 0.7 W / l will be quite sufficient. If the lighting is brighter, then the leaves of the aquatic inhabitant begin to overgrow with a greenish bloom, which in turn can cause her early death.

In aquariums, this aquatic beauty usually grows rather slowly. And to the reproduction of Cryptocoryne, Twaiteza will be capable of no earlier than a couple of years after its planting.

In artificial conditions, the luxurious aquatic inhabitant reproduces vegetatively. Young plants are separated only when three or more leaves are formed on them.

Cryptocoryne Twyteza is susceptible to a rather unpleasant ailment - the so-called cryptocoryne disease. The essence of this disease lies in the fact that the leaves of a beautiful aquatic inhabitant quite unexpectedly begin to gradually disintegrate, and after a day or two, its bushes also completely decompose in the water. As a rule, such a nuisance happens when the active medium changes sharply from acidic to alkaline, and also when the hardness of the water drops sharply. Accordingly, during a water change, these factors must be given close attention.
